If you want an easy short PowerPoint of the white paper SEND reforms vs current legislation, drop me a message. I’ll email it to you. I’ve spent the morning sifting through it so may as well share!

@AdamHighcliffe @educationgovuk Well if that flow chart is how people are approaching behaviour and SEND then everyone SHOULD be concerned a child with SEND was suspended/excluded. I can smell the irritation in that slide a mile off and it stinks.

This is utterly despicable. It's from Andrew Smith's session at yesterday's ResearchEd event. It's despicable that a teacher spreads these views. It's despicable that it was boosted today by Tom Bennett. And it's despicable that this comes via a serving @educationgovuk tsar. 🧵

@tes It would be helpful if the children’s commissioner read the guidance where it ALREADY clearly states this is a requirement and has done for decades.

Schools should be required to state how a suspension, exclusion or isolation 'will be a trigger point for additional support', says the children's commissioner in a report about keeping young people out of the youth justice system tes.com/magazine/news/…

@LeaLeaLemon She gave a back up name of Tina, who is good at lifting kitchens with one arm. My response was ok Tina, I’m here to learn. No mummy not Tina, I’m Stanley

@EducationThrive Hilarious! Our boys were really into WWE Wrestling when they were little. We asked the 4 year old what his name would be? He told us…. Oliver the Peach!!!!

Here’s a radical idea, if schools were funded for SEND appropriately, then EHCP’s wouldn’t need to exist.

When you’ve worked with vulnerable children as long as I have, evidence screams risk follows them into adulthood if there isn’t a long term plan of support. Reading of the 3rd death in 8 weeks of those now adult ex pupils in separate circumstances shows a tragic system failure

A few times a year, a particular piece of wood from the log pile invites me to carve it into a spoon and give it away to someone. It happened today. This was the last one. What will the next one look like, and who will it be given to?

@therroneill Oh yes, it’s her favourite spoon. She used it tonight to ice some melted snowman biscuits.

Is there a reason why this past week schools are suddenly getting a squillion consultations to admit pupils with EHCP’s? How would they like school staff to respond appropriately when there is 3 minutes left of the school year and and the brain capacity to think of a blancmange?
