I’m still in disbelief over your convo with @SykesCharlie today - what do I call it? Horribly good information? Wow. Just incredible. I always like to listen when you are the guest. When I saw the title of the episode I was excited it was you while dreading what I was about to hear you tell. Just incredible

"As Trump readies a US armada for a war whose aims he cannot articulate, an honest reckoning of geopolitical risks would place his wayward psychology high up." Wrote this a few days before Iran war. Had no idea how quickly it would become THE issue. ft.com/content/8802f7…

"Trump is caught in a trap of his own making. Two weeks is famously a long time in the US president’s eyes. Which means he is adjusting his mindset for a long war." Me on why the China postponement is a huge deal. ft.com/content/18106c…

You want the NATO allies to join you in a war you started without ever consulting these allies about the war or explaining your war aims. We’re meant just to meekly fall in line. You recently supported a US invasion of a NATO ally (Denmark/Greenland) but now you want these same allies to join your war. Your president disparaged and misrepresented the role of NATO allies in Afghanistan. But now you want them to join with you again in a war of your making. You went to war with Iran without a thought of how to keep the Strait of Hormuz open and without involving your allies in the matter. But now you want the NATO allies to bail you out, even though there’s still no plan for Hormuz. You want the NATO allies to join you in a war in which you still cannot articulate the endgame. Or what victory would look like. You went to war thinking the Iranian regime would quickly topple, that Tehran would not attack the Gulf States or close Hormuz. Why would we align with such Epic Stupidity? You and other know-nothing blowhards started this war all on your own. You can finish it on your own. If you’re able to …
Lindsey Graham@LindseyGrahamSC

Just spoke to @POTUS about our European allies’ unwillingness to provide assets to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning, which benefits Europe far more than America. I have never heard him so angry in my life. I share that anger given what’s at stake. The arrogance of our allies to suggest that Iran with a nuclear weapon is of little concern and that military action to stop the ayatollah from acquiring a nuclear bomb is our problem not theirs is beyond offensive. The European approach to containing the ayatollah’s nuclear ambitions have proven to be a miserable failure. The repercussions of providing little assistance to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning are going to be wide and deep for Europe and America. I consider myself very forward-leaning on supporting alliances, however at a time of real testing like this, it makes me second guess the value of these alliances. I am certain I am not the only senator who feels this way.

@ChrisRGollop For sure but he's a comparatively decent man, as is Martin. That's the only point.

@EdwardGLuce What a pity for him that the reality that has played out since Starmer took office looks totally different. A ditherer, constantly indecisive, who seeks to blame others for his own failings and has frequently shown incredibly poor judgement from the very start.

The tired, relentless attempt to equate opposition to the Israeli government with antisemitism isn't just wrong and offensive, it's a badly failing political strategy that has hurt the fight against a very real threat to Jewish people. No one buys this shit beyond the most hardcore supporters of the Israeli government.

New from me: Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the ADL, called out two Democratic lawmakers, Chris Van Hollen & Ro Khanna, from the main stage of the organization’s Never is Now conference in Manhattan, accusing them of perpetuating antisemitism.  jewishinsider.com/2026/03/jonath…

One ally after another doing what allies should do: making it clear this Iran war is gratuitous & dangerous. Friends don't let friends drive drunk. Unfortunately they had no chance of preventing this, and didn't try very hard.

@EdwardGLuce Trump, Hegseth and Rubio and other have openly said, on several occasions now, that this was largely instigated by Netanyahu, with Hegseth speaking of their ‘mission’ being carried out.

Joe Kent says, "..It is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby.” To be sure Netanyahu is a highly influential protaganist but this is Trump's war and he owns it.

I had a magnificent day at the Taj Mahal. 🇮🇳 It is the most incredible monument I have ever seen in my life. A monument of love built with perfect symmetry and detail. India is one of the most beautiful countries I’ve ever had the pleasure of traveling to. Highly recommend!

Trump tells @EdwardGLuce that NATO faces a “very bad” future if US allies fail to assist in opening up the Strait of Hormuz and suggested he may delay his summit with China’s later this month as he presses Beijing to also help unblock the crucial waterway. ft.com/content/1ca6d1…
