the US Soccer industrial complex came out 50% too hard against Pulisic and it honestly felt a bit coordinated. I get the frustration with him and I'm not a fan of his, but felt like a lot of ppl piling on with pre-existing agendas.

As always: I enjoy pro/rel. I’ve lived it. Nothing stopping a pro/rel alternative structure right now in US. I'll support it. But it’s not a panacea and it shouldn’t be mandated. Don’t tell others how to run their biz. Build a better mousetrap and let the customer/market decide.

@AlexiLalas @JtOswald When your first instinct is “how do coaches make more money?” instead of “how do we build the best player development system?”, you’re defending a business model, not U.S. Soccer. Great coaches deserve great paybut not through a system that prices out thousands of talented kids.

Why shouldn’t a youth soccer coach want and deserve to make as much money as possible? If someone is really good at their job they should maximize their value.

@AlexiLalas Yes, the point of coaching youth soccer should not be for a coach to make as much money as possible. If you want to make money coaching soccer, coach at higher levels and not youths.

He said what he said, owned it, and explained his reasons — the keyboard warriors just didn’t like it. Calling him “soft” is ridiculous.

Watching this, one thought comes to mind over and over with every quote. Christian Pulisic isn't special. He's not the first football player to be heavily scrutinized. He's not the only one who had to weigh summer tournament vs. rest. He's not the only athlete to be criticized.

Every time Pulisic talks he makes it worse, the entitlement and whininess makes him very unlikable. I hope he turns this around, ultimately the 2026 World Cup with the USMNT 🇺🇸 will be his opportunity on the field, even so... the damage has been done off the field.
