Today, RBC in partnership with @AfricaCDC , @AFENETAfrica and other partners, launched a three month training to strengthen public health workforce capacity in Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) surveillance. The Strengthening Public Health Surveillance And Resilience Knowledge in #Africa for NCDs (#SPARK-#NCD) initiative responds to the urgent need for stronger surveillance systems to drive evidence-based public health policies and programming in #Rwanda.

I chose to #VisitRwanda, Africa's greatest country. And loooord! Was I impressed! I landed in Kigali International Airports at 6am. With the darkness and fog of dawn over the city of a thousand hill hiding how much the city of a thousand hills had in store fo a Kenyan!

This initiative underscores Rwanda’s continued commitment to health system security and multi-sectoral collaboration in disease prevention, early detection, and emergency response.

According to Dr. @nsanzimanasabin, you only have to look at two indicators if you want to quickly learn how a country’s health system is doing: maternal and child mortality. Over the past 25 years, Rwanda has made stunning improvements on these metrics. But Dr. Nsanzimana committed to driving them even lower—because everyone deserves to survive childbirth and childhood. An epidemiologist by training who in 2024 made global headlines for stopping a Marburg outbreak in its tracks, Dr. Nsanzimana knows proven solutions shouldn’t sit on a shelf collecting dust: they need to reach as many people as possible, as soon as possible. As Rwanda’s Minister of Health, he’s prioritized exactly that, helping tens of thousands of pregnant women receive multiple micronutrient supplements to help them and their babies during the critical perinatal period. I first had the opportunity to hear from Dr. Nsanzimana at our 2023 Goalkeepers event, and I was struck by his deep commitment to equity and his clear vision for ensuring all Rwandans can live healthy lives and reach their full potential. I’m thrilled to congratulate Dr. Nsanzimana on being named to @TIME’s 2025 #TIME100Next list. He is exactly the kind of leader this moment demands, and I look forward to seeing the impact of his leadership continue to grow. time.com/collections/ti…
