Flu can be life threatening, so if you're an unpaid carer you can get a free vaccination at your GP or a community pharmacy who offer the service, by telling them you're eligible. If you're asked for proof, just take along one of the documents on this list to Identify yourself as a carer: orlo.uk/y85w2

Do you or someone you know provide unpaid care for a loved one with dementia? If so it’s your last chance to join the first of a series of free, friendly training sessions to help you provide the best care you can. From understanding the importance of nutrition and hydration, to learning about coping strategies and dealing with concerning behaviours, the training covers essential topics to help you handle the changes that the disease can bring. Each in-person session lasts an hour or less, with new classes starting this week in #Farnham, #Guildford and #Milford, and #Staines following in November. Even if you can’t make the first session, you’re welcome to join anytime. Locations are based on demand so it’s worth registering your interest wherever you live. See orlo.uk/PBTOt or call 0300 200 1005 (text 07527 182 861 for the deaf or hard of hearing).

This summer, hundreds of volunteers helped thousands of children to complete their challenge and join in with all sorts of activities- we could not have done it without them. So it seems only fair we say an enormous THANK YOU to all the volunteers who helped us this year. We hope to see you again next year! #SummerReadingChallenge #SRC2025 #WhereItHappens

BBC's 500 Words competition has launched this week! 🎉 UK’s biggest story-writing competition for children 5 to 11 years old encourages children to write a story that is 500 words… or less! Spelling, punctuation and grammar are not marked, it’s all about the creativity! Tips? "Write a story you would love to read". 🧡 The entries need to be submitted on the competition website by Friday 7 November (9pm). #BBC500Words
