intern just met a cute founder at a side event. like actually sharp. genuinely building something interesting. we’re talking. vibes are good. she’s laughing at my jokes. i’m being charming. then crypto UX gets brought up, she says it “yeah we’re adding cross-chain swaps” my ears PERKED up i played it cool. i said “oh nice, what’s the flow” she said “we’ll just send users to a bridge” and that’s where a normal person would have said “wow that’s really cool” and gotten her telegram but i am not a normal person my brain immediately went into autopilot and i said “to a bridge? do you at least handle wrong-chain and zero-balance” she looked confused i kept going “do users have to switch wallets. switch networks. approve 7 things. copy an address. pray the bridge UI loads. then come back and do it again. are you actually shipping an experience or are you outsourcing it to tabs and vibes” she said “it’s pretty standard, people know how to do it” and i said “so you’re building for crypto natives only” the vibe was GONE her friend pulled her away. she didn’t look back. i was standing there alone at a side event holding a drink i wasn’t even sipping doing MENTAL MATH on how many users bounce at the exact moment the flow says “please bridge” and whether a team that accepts that friction can even call themselves product-first my friend walked over and said “bro she was into you what happened” i said “she wants users to leave the app to do a swap” he said “so?” SO??? i would rather DIE alone than let a multi-tab bridge enjoyer who thinks “just go swap somewhere else” is acceptable think we’re in the same ecosystem she had a pretty roadmap but a DISGUSTING funnel because there IS no funnel and i simply cannot overlook that could’ve had her telegram but she knows i’m embedding intent-based swaps directly inside the product with the NEAR Intents Widget while she’s asleep and honestly that’s worth more aurora
