@Goodtakes_fc @TheLastNeocon The Americans is worth it; it’s pacing is really good & so is the ending, there’s also Homeland (producer is the son of the ex-CIA Cairo Station Chief back under Nasser..) so he incorporates much of what he saw/knew from his father too.

The Americans straight up might have best ending of any show I’ve ever seen (better than Breaking Bad somehow)

@alnemashq8 Egypt & the US never ratified CISMOA hence it’s not in effect, signing etc doesn’t mean much unless it’s ratified by both sides so it’s been dead in the water for years

@Goodtakes_fc @TheLastNeocon The Agency is also great & realistic based on The Bureau & it’s more contemporary; The Americans is set in the 1980s so Cold War & KGB-focused taking their perspective it’s worth a watch

@Egypt_NatSec @AAboudouh Rot set in during Mubarak period. Sameh Fahmy locked in far too low prices for IOCs, and the arrears were building up long before 2011. Sherif Ismail did some good (allah yirhamu), before being pushed into PM job. Gas prospects now are not bad, but remedy will take time.

Cairo streets are pitch black and shops are indeed (and unexpectedly) shut on time.

@NickofMars1 @AAboudouh They’ve been working on renewables in recent years yeah but there needs to be a serious state-backed initiative to lower the costs of installing solar panels literally everywhere & anywhere as fast as possible; should’ve began in 2014

A bit funny how Zelenskyy is scooting around the Middle East while other foreign leaders haven’t even touched the whole region for a month now. Important deals to be made, presumably!

This is from Abu Dhabi with Sisi/MBZ & Major General Hassan Rashad, Director of the General Intelligence Service (G.I.S.) during their recent visit to the U.A.E. & Qatar; after which they went to Bahrain & Saudi Arabia on a separate trip a couple of days later. Egypt’s General Intelligence Service (G.I.S.) has been using its backchannels with the IRGC to mediate a temporary ceasefire with the U.S. White House for high-level talks aimed at a more comprehensive agreement [that’s also how they got the Gaza ceasefire done in Sharm El Sheikh back in October 2025] 🇪🇬 At this stage it’s clear that there’s also no viable U.S.-Israeli plan for a “regime change” scenario in Iran, and again, there are also visible signs of U.S. escalation with more forces being sent to the region [even for a limited ground op] so always keep that in mind. Thus far, Egypt has been able to convince the Gulf states not to retaliate against Iran & outright join the U.S.-Israeli air strikes, but I think it’s likely still a bit early to tell whether Iran & the U.S. are really willing to talk & potentially meet face-to-face for an agreement in Cairo or Sharm El Sheikh.
