This morning, in Lagos, I met with the U.S. Consul General, Mr Rick Swart, where we discussed strengthening the bilateral relationship. We focused on promoting credible elections in Nigeria, ensuring they are free from interference, and fostering a space where all political parties, especially opposition parties can thrive, and contribute. We also discussed trade and business opportunities between our countries. Accompanying me to the meeting was Dr Adefolaseye Adebomi Adebayo. The discussion was very productive, and we are hopeful that, moving forward, Nigeria’s elections will be even more credible and transparent. -PO

Peter Obi's political influence is ridiculously underrated. Just visit villages and see how everybody is aligning just less than 24 hours of his defection. ADC WhatsApp groups are being renamed to NDC. Stakeholders are calling meetings immediately, informing structures of the recent alignment. And the most interesting part is that they're not receiving shishi from Peter Obi. Just pure passion and genuine love for Peter Obi. No politician in Nigeria has ever had it this easy.

Go to many bank’s HQ on the island, you’d see dedicated staff buses moving “expatriates” from their hotels (that the banks pay for) to the office and back. Meanwhile, there’s no such provisions for their indigenous staff members. These guys get paid in dollars, don’t eat Nigerian food and send back their earnings to their country. And trust me, I’ve worked with them and I can say many of our Nigerian technical engineers are as solid. Nigerian employers don’t just rate Nigerian employees like that, it’s a common problem.

I have noticed something. When pundits have nothing to say they bring “style of play” and “patterns of play”. Just easy money for them. It’s the pundit’s job to find what a manager is trying to do. If the manager has no plans whatsoever, they would lose every game at this level. Don’t be lazy. Do some analysis and find out what the manager is doing. If you don’t understand football at that level then leave your job.

Shows me another Nigerian governor who left office, refused his pension, rejected the land allocated to him, and walked away with $500m saved for the state instead of for himself. I’ll wait. Show me a better presidential candidate better than him. If you can show me on you get 50k this instant.

I grew up in Anambra State, and I saw this up close. One of my classmates’ fathers served as a Commissioner under Peter Obi. Let me make it very clear: Peter Obi didn’t build his cabinet around career politicians. He deliberately brought in professionals from different fields, people who already had established careers before government. My classmate’s dad is a senior lawyer with law chambers in Anambra, Abia, and now Lagos. After serving in government, he simply returned to legal practice. No drama, no clinging to power. His Chief of Staff, who later became Commissioner for Information, was a professor and lecturer. When the administration ended, she went straight back to academia. That was the pattern. These were people who had something to return to, so they weren’t in office to survive. they were there to serve. Compare that to the usual system dominated by career politicians, where public office becomes a permanent livelihood, and you’ll understand the difference immediately. It’s really not complicated: When you appoint professionals, they serve and go back to their lives. When you appoint career politicians, they stay and turn governance into a career.
