Reading my short novel
The story of Jwan is one that would make even a crocodile shed a real tear. Life hadn't been kind to this little hippo. After his mother married a grumpy, muscle-bound buffalo named Toro, Jwan became the ultimate "third wheel" in his own home.
The Cold Shoulder in the Hot Savannah
Toro had two biological sons—twin buffaloes named Biff and Boof. They were everything Jwan was not: fast, pointy-horned, and capable of grass-eating marathons.
At dinner, Biff and Boof would feast on the finest, emerald-green clover, while Jwan was handed a bucket of dry, dusty sticks. When they played "Tag," Toro would shout, "Run, my champions! Show that strength!" and then look at Jwan and sigh, "Jwan, try not to trip over your own chin. You’re blocking the view."
Jwan would sit by the riverbank, his large eyes filled with tears, watching his reflection. He felt like a "glitch" in the family photo. "Maybe if I grow horns," he whispered to a frog, "Toro will love me." He even tried taping two bananas to his head, but a monkey stole them within five minutes.
The Plot Twist: The Penguin Intervention
Just as Jwan was about to give up and become a professional hermit, a strange figure appeared on a drifting log. It was a Penguin wearing a tiny Hawaiian shirt and a pair of cracked sunglasses.
"Kid," the Penguin chirped, "you look like a giant gray grape that’s been sat on. What’s the vibe?"
Jwan sobbed, "My stepdad thinks I’m a useless 'River Potato.' I have no horns. I have no speed. I'm just... moist."
The Penguin slapped Jwan’s leg (which was like slapping a brick wall). "Moist is good! Moist is aerodynamic! My name is Rico, and I’m looking for a CEO for my new startup: The Heavy-Duty Uber of the Zambezi."
The Comeback
Jwan realized he didn't need to be a buffalo. He had something they didn't: Massive Buoyancy. Rico the Penguin hopped on Jwan’s head and shouted, "Engage the engines!" Jwan dived into the water, performing a majestic, high-speed belly flop that created a tidal wave. The wave was so big it accidentally washed Toro, Biff, and Boof right off the grass and into a muddy bush.
From the bushes, Toro watched in awe as Jwan zoomed past, carrying a group of high-paying tourist meerkats on his back, while Rico the Penguin threw confetti made of fish scales.
The Moral of the Story
Jwan didn't need a buffalo’s approval; he needed a penguin’s business plan. He realized that while Biff and Boof were busy head-butting trees, he was the only one in the family with a swimming pool for a backyard and a bird for a manager.
He stayed strong, kept his head high (mostly to keep Rico from falling off), and learned that being a "River Potato" is actually pretty great—especially when you’re the most popular potato in the jungle.
Would you like me to generate a "Boss Mode" image of Jwan the Hippo wearing sunglasses with his penguin business partner?
