Barkeria whartoniana is an endemic orchid species from Mexico, primarily found in the states of Oaxaca, Michoacán, and Guerrero. It grows as an epiphyte or lithophyte in dry, hot deciduous forests, xerophytic scrublands, or on rocks and cacti at elevations of about 200–300 meters. My Barkeria whartoniana is mounted in a Vanda glass – best decision ever! To keep the humidity up, I just have pepples at the bottom. For me, this is currently the perfect way to grow it. During the growth season it gets sprayed heavily and fertilized regularly. It lives at an east window and rewarded me this year with two beautiful inflorescences!

My developing Masdevallia ignea [Rchb. f., 1871], a cold growing orchid native to 🇨🇴 with pronounced blooms. Grows at elevations of typically 2600 to 3800 metres. #Orchidaceae

Aerangis hildebrandtii is gradually opening its enchanting little blossoms one by one, and they’re already fragrant. Overall, it has grown amazingly well and is producing an incredible number of flower spikes.✨🧡✨

I broke off last year’s bud. This year, my Paphiopedilum thailandense finally succeeded and even developed two flowers/buds on a single stem. Now I’m hoping for an extended bloom time.

She has a few more blooms than last season. In total, there will be 20 blooms on 3 flower spikes. A wonderfully pretty eyecatcher!

@jun7orchids Thanks! That’s a great tip from you! 👍🏻 I’ll have to think about that too. When the pseudobulbs are bigger or really well filled, or if there are more than two on one plant, I also cut the roots completely off.

I got Maxillaria variabilis Yellow as a freebie with an order from my favorite grower. Up until about a year ago, it only had around 6 small pseudobulbs. It’s still small, but it’s grown nicely and is gradually developing its fragrant flowers ✨💛✨
