@Rechardart @tumbo_dumbo Revamped alchemy and forging system would more or less fix that. The alchemy system being such a huge % of items while being pretty pointless outside invading (where you are trying to be efficient at a given level) is IMO actually ER’s greatest miss.

Playing DS2 has made me realise how much I love actually clearing a level and going through it slowly, DS3 and Elden Ring really discourage that and it’s quite disappointing.

@gy_psy_ It’s also not supposed to be linearly easy. They really don’t want people skipping the second half of the DLC and going straight for the boss. The whole second part of the DLC is about making your side be able to snowball against them before they do it against you.

@gy_psy_ You can hate on main game DS2 all you want but aside for the multiplayer crap the DLCs are 3 of the top 10 areas in the series. Balancing a team fight so PC actions are meaningful means when the PC is weak it’s easy to get snowballed. That’s just how it works. SL1 is a challenge

@gy_psy_ @Invinium Yes, the design is you’re not supposed to be SL1 at the end of the last DLC so they designed it thinking you can take a stray hit or at least dish it out to keep their numbers thinned. Challenge is a challenge. So when you beat it you can feel like it was an accomplishment.

@gy_psy_ @Invinium Salt is flowing for now but he’ll feel all the better after winning. Oh and DS2 has lots of problems and scholar was a waste of a chance to fix them. I just don’t think Ivory King is one of them (though there’s still some room for improvement)

The burnt ivory king pre-cursor section is honestly one of the WORST designed combat encounters in a souls game. How on earth did this release in the state that it is in is absurd to me, and why didn't fromsoft try to fix it in scholar just confuses me.

@doze52982387 Similarly groups like zenkimi have a great atmosphere and fans. But it’s moshing and stage diving so that might be a no go for some. TwinBox is mostly groups that aren’t popular enough for fans to be weirdly possessive. It’s also not a club so doesn’t smell like smoke and piss.

@doze52982387 If you’re new and just want to try just go to TwinBox on a weekday. I also recommend circuit events on weekdays. Taiban are MUCH worse on weekends. If it’s a weekend go to 1500円. 🤣 Isn’t it so stupid that the weird concept event is pleasant and 王道 groups often the worst?

@rbarbosatoro @Skuamato @Fubgun Yes but self-chill is probably not feasible at level 24 but it’s still good in campaign for attack builds for flat damage life resist. My main point is uniques should have a real unique angle, but since that is usually a narrow use case, other mods help expand use cases.

@ElaiCCC @Skuamato @Fubgun I mean, of course but the main issue was that almost every unique was garbage compared to rares and that's...bad.Winterwave is an unique that you would use in the endgame if your goal is a self-chilling build but imagine it didn't have the self-chilling part. That's PoE2 for you

@rbarbosatoro @Skuamato @Fubgun Which makes dropping almost all uniques pointless since you’ll just buy a high or corrupted version you want. PoE1 Winterweave still has stats for non self chill builds- it’s good for a while and then replaced. It’s more interesting than if it only had reverse chill.

@Arron_TK Only issue with it are the sudden water dropoffs that FS has since stopped using. If it just became deeper first before cliff it’d be fine. Ranged enemies are only an issue when you have to watch the ground so carefully.

Messmer was so good man. Perfect moveset and he’s got the visual presentation to top it off. I fully expected him to be the final boss of the DLC before I got into ER, being the cover of it and all. For how sick his fight and design are, I feel like he lacks presence in the story

Like if you type in kf hiero go look at the heatmap- it’s not the same build. One guy runs it CI, another hybrid, another 6200 life. All these people likely read the concept and made their own take.

@KingKongor @pathofexile I would prefer PoE have standard AND legacy but maybe they’re afraid it will lower the people who play league. Standard - for characters of last ~4 leagues can more or less keep playing old characters if you want Legacy - cesspool? of broken stuff and silly economy for fun

@Wraifoh @skEtchobviously @stankRat_ I enjoy campaign but once I’m endgame I just want to play endgame until next event or league. Anyway my preference is that from start of 3rd weekend extra characters could do an abbreviated campaign where you still have to beat all the story bosses but there’s much less walking.

@skEtchobviously @stankRat_ i have been playing since 2011 and i still wouldnt want a campaign skip. it cheapens the game, i still love poe 1 and make multiple characters a league, and do multiple league restarts. Its okay to be bored and move on to a new game.

TRUE Seasonal games, like Path of Exile, Marathon, or even EFT (we'll see today), are designed in a way for players to engage with the seasonal content and then move on. Between seasons/leagues, I can play a new game, say Elden Ring, or God of War: Ragnarok, enjoy the game, and look at my calendar and know that on May 29th, at 1:00 PM PST, the new PoE league drops and I will LOG IN. And, that time away (whilst playing other titles) makes the return experience that much more enriched. This might be an odd segue, BUT... I still keep seeing posts about "concurrent players abysmally low, dead game," etc. People who are posting this stuff literally have zero IQ. I know it's all rage bait and engagement farm, but, sadly, it pushes a false narrative and poisons and seeds a negative perception that spreads throughout the gaming community; whether it's with EFT, Marathon, Hunt: Showdown, Path of Exile, and other seasonal games. And, I know when these types of posts acquire mass engagement because people come into stream every day asking, "this game isn't dead yet?" Just cuz a game is off season, doesn't mean it's dead lmao. Sucks cuz I know creatives at the studios probably catch wind of these posts and I'm sure it's a bit demoralizing and stuff... Marathon is still getting heat about it's concurrent player count; trust me, if UbiSoft Singapore are still pumping out content for that AAAA game, Skull and Bones, other studios will be just fine. Marathon, Marauders, EFT, Hunt: Showdown, etc., they ain't goin nowhere. GGG didn't necessarily come up with the philosophy, but they doubled down on it; kudos to them for taking the risk, paving the way for other seasonal games. W economy reset. W wipes. W progression resets. Obviously, this isn't for everyone; casual players get left behind, but I'm a gamer, and I need a game to satiate my gaming addiction, Minecraft ain't gonna cut it for me big dog.

@Rishon_BR @pathofexile IMO even though the game more or less requires a buildguide (or intense knowledge) for “all” content, PoE ninja pretty much shows that a lot of people switch up quite a few equipment slots, nodes, even ascendancy notables. The guide is just the cookie cutter to start from.

@Khaltzane_C @mellifera_x3 Dragon Quest is MOSTLY good. Storyline isn’t super important a lot of skills etc are gibberish anyway and you can mostly progress by wandering if you aren’t following well. But know that the “use specific item in specific place without a prompt” sort of quest is sudden hard mode.

@NeverSinkDev I never liked infinite atlas. I don’t know what the new point is but the previous point was you were cleansing the corruption except you didn’t actually give a crap about that. Letting us cleanse a finite world map would be fun. Could then switch to choose your map later endgame.

I really hope PoE2 0.5 will take the learnings from the latest PoE1 patch. The 'physical atlas' with all encounters being connected and mid term goals through astrolabes is amazing. I hope 0.5, will try to rework the atlas into a similar-ish. I don't think the endless space is pulling much weight. What do you think?
