The Inflation Reduction Act will do a lot to help climate catastrophe. I am feeling optimistic about legislative progress! Do you want to know which solutions are the most effective, not ranked by media coverage but ranked by science? @kevinmullin @CCLSanMateo @smdailyjournal

I’ve known Vice President @KamalaHarris for 20 years and consider her a friend. She’s incredibly warm, smart, savvy, and thoughtful and I can’t wait for America to get to really know her over the next 4 months and not the caricature that’s been put out there. Let’s do this!!!

@JoshBeckerSV Yes, it was wonderful but she did not emphasize the evangelical cadence enough. Right after I heard Britt's rebuttal speech, I listened to a Baptist/Evangelical minister preach, and it was a match!

@AsmDianePapan Looking forward to hearing your reaction to COP 28 and how it inspired you. What climate legislation you will support in the New Year, beyond adaptation? Would you be willing to host a townhall focused on the environment and energy? @CCLSanMateo @smdailyjournal

Three years ago, East Bay Regional Park District employees noticed an increasing number of dead or dying trees caused by the drought. Knowing all those trees could ignite with a single spark, they found the carbonator. nbcbay.com/8eQ2d72

@lauraklivans @KQED I love this! What a great idea for an entire block to ditch gas! We are in the process of doing this in our home... I'm going to follow the idea and try to get our neighbors to hop on the electric train to Electric Avenue!

🧵The residents of one block in East Oakland have been quietly writing a rough draft for how to ditch natural gas on a neighborhood scale. In my @kqed episode of Sold Out: Rethinking Housing in America, we head to the block.

We know why: it's because data and models all look backwards, at the way things have been. They're consistently failing to account for how an extra 10 zetajoules of heat per year are powering stronger + more dangerous storms that intensify faster. cbsnews.com/news/hurricane…

I joined the efforts to address the #ClimateCrisis because I oppose war. Once I realize that you can't move Iowa soil a few hundred miles north, I realized that #ClimateChange will lead to food shortages (and water shortages), which would lead to mass migrations and wars. 1/3

In the 1980s, the US experienced one billion+ dollar extreme weather event every 4 months. Nowadays? There's one every 3 weeks and @YaleClimateComm's latest poll shows this is American's #1 concern when it comes to climate impacts. Source: climatecommunication.yale.edu/publications/b…

Leaving Pajaro thrust the family into a seemingly endless search for affordable housing. And it would have a profound effect on Escutia’s life. “We left because we don’t want the same thing to happen again,” she said.

🧵The Escutia family is still searching for a home 7 months after the Pajaro River levee crumbled leaving their home in ruins. In my @kqed episode of Sold Out: Rethinking Housing in America I take you on Denia's journey. She lost her house, her dream of going to UCLA & her dog.
