The arrival of the railroad to Kano from Lagos in 1921 greatly influenced migration from Southern Nigeria to Kano which at that time had 922 years of organized and continuous leadership.
Initially, the Sabon Gari area, which was established for non-indigenous residents from southern Nigeria, had about 2,000 residents, of which 1,478 were Yoruba (Baƙo, 1990). These early migrants were mostly involved in the booming groundnut trade and transportation to the coastal areas.
Edo immigrants began settling in Kano in 1912 (Du-Sai 1986), while the Igbo took longer to arrive due to the completion of the railway links between the East and North in 1932, after the construction of the Makurɗi Bridge.
The question of how the Igbos built a place that was more than 2000 years old and had about 1000 years of organized leaders before their arrival seems to be based on a misunderstanding or maybe a delusion of grandiosity.
Kano is a much older city with a rich history that predates the arrival of Igbos and other migrant communities. The Hausa people have been the predominant ethnic group in the area for centuries, with Kano being a significant commercial center for a long time. The Igbos, like other migrant communities, have modestly contributed to the cultural diversity of Kano. However, they did not "build" Kano in the sense of establishing the city or its organized leadership or anything.

Has anyone informed the "ICPC Chairman" to detain Davido's and Tinubu's friend indefinitely, deny him food and doctor's visits? Of course not. Because it's not in the pharoah's interests.
It doesn't matter if this man has money laundered a staggering amount, engaged in abuse of power towards a female politician, and has denied the good people of Kogi State rightful funding for their priorities. A pharaoh doesn't care about accountability to the masses; only himself and destroying those who might dampen his own agenda.
You see, if the president really is so sophisticated and a hundred times better than any opposition figures, there should be a standard and predictable set of procedures for a supposedly independent commission; without interference; ideally procedures that comply with international conventions on human rights. But the way agencies are used for political agendas instead of genuine anti-corruption and law enforcement efforts is glaring for the world to see. Certain corrupt families and individuals, if they are his friends, are protected. If there was consistency in the way agencies operate, we would be less troubled.
You can be as knowledgeable as a scholar about liberal economics but if you are unjust and don't promote administrative discipline, law and order, how can you be considered a good leader? Does Traoré talk about balance sheets and recapitalisation of banks for domestic finance? Does he talk about building credit rating systems? No. But the man is focused on improving the lives of his people in the way they can feel it, and there appear to be no sacred cows (except perhaps himself?!)
Can we say the same about Nigeria when men like Yahaya Bello are shamelessly celebrated?

No pride, nothing. Completely unbothered that Barcelona will celebrate the title in front of them. It's like they want it to happen.
Wish Florentino was here to see it in person.

English

I am pleased to announce that our dear institution and football team, @Ranchers_Bees has gained promotion to the Nigerian Professional Football League. Indeed, this symbolises ‘a rebirth of a legacy, the reward for belief and the beginning of a new chapter. Despite the challenges associated with the growth of Nigeria’s Sports Industry, we have collective strived to elevate a historic institution while providing a more positive alternative for young people. As the Member representing the wonderful of people of Kaduna North, this has been a privilege I will never forget. We will always encourage passionate youth to venture into sports, entrepreneurship in order to avoid falling victims to the unemployment trap that leads to thuggery, banditry, cybercrimes and other nefarious activities. I must extend my gratitude to the management of the team, the entire staff under the able leadership of our amiable President, Nura Mohammed, my friend and the Chairman of the Kaduna State Football Association, Faisal Abdullahi @FaisalTozo. But most of the credit must go to our majority owner, a gentleman, a compassionate leader, an marvellous football player and a patriotic Nigerian, @Sadiq_Umar19 of @ValenciaCF_EN. Personally, sports was the only area I was yet to touch, I am proud to say we have now. It is fulfilling. By the grace of God, I will be meeting the entire team in the coming days for Jika Hanta purposes. Thank you.
Signed
Hon. Mohammed Bello El-Rufai

The continued detention of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has created a growing public perception that justice is being overshadowed by external pressure and political considerations. In any democracy, that perception alone is deeply damaging.
Courts must be guided only by law, evidence, and constitutional principle. When a prominent opposition figure and leading voice within a political coalition remains in custody amid unresolved bail issues, many citizens will understandably question whether the process is truly independent, balanced, and free from interference.
No court should allow itself to appear as an instrument of partisan interests. The judiciary exists to protect liberty, restrain abuse of power, and stand above political contests. Where detention appears prolonged without compelling legal necessity, confidence in the system is weakened.
Mallam El-Rufai, like every Nigerian citizen, is entitled to the presumption of innocence, fair treatment, and impartial adjudication. His political relevance should neither advantage nor disadvantage him before the law.
We therefore call for an urgent, transparent, and strictly lawful review of his continued detention and all pending bail matters. Justice must not only be done; it must be seen to be done.
If courts bend to pressure, democracy bends with them.
If courts stand firm, the Constitution stands firm.
Nigeria deserves courts that answer only to the law.

This is not about @elrufai but Nigerians at large. The bastardization of our institution is at the highest stage. Judiciary that is suppose to be the life line of our democracy is today at the mercy of politicians. We can't sit and watch criminals destroy our nation. Shame!!!

I've said this, they won't release him till after the primaries. He has a critical role to play in ensuring the ADC produces a presidential candidate, whether by consensus or primaries, without the party falling apart. They know this, and they don't want that to happen!
