Somehow it got worse.
So, Marathon cost something like 200-250, maybe 260, maybe more.
It sold 1.2 mil copies at last reporting and has been in decline.
1 mil of those copies are between Steam and Xbox, Steam and Xbox take 30%.
I think I get why Sony is over PC gaming lol.

Marathon is doing really interesting things with multiplayer narrative design. Feels new and interesting. We can’t ask for new things and then complain when new thing isn’t old thing again. I want new stuff, personally.

Asking for Marathon to have an exclusively PvE mode is like asking for Baldur’s Gate 3 to have real time combat. Just a deeply unserious thing.

Just so we're clear on why the Sony expectations thing is important.
I will remind everyone that Lightfall, one of the best-selling D2 DLC's at $40, was considered a failure because it missed revenue targets by 45%, giving us this great meme.

I've been playing the hell out of Vintage Story, that is being made by a small indie team for about $40 AUD.

Value is subjective.
$40 on the face of it isn't the biggest issue, though it's a considerable ask for casual players, who bungie needs, in a market of F2P games.
We also know with D2, Bungie is not above nickel and diming or removing paid content for their own conveyance/reasons
