🤝 ENGAGEMENT: Stakeholders draw roadmap for human rabies vaccines 💉 Today, @ifakarahealth in collaboration with @UofGlasgow, hosted a Rabies Elimination Stakeholders’ hybrid Meeting in Dodoma. The primary objective of this gathering was to introduce @gavi's plan to provide human rabies vaccines starting in 2024 and to explore how various partners can join forces to ensure that Tanzania can fully benefit from this plan. GAVI will be investing in human Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) vaccines, a critical preventive medical treatment aimed at reducing the risk of rabies infection following potential exposure. Professor @hampson_katie, a member of GAVI's Technical Advisory Committee and professor at @UofGlasgow, described PEP as "a lifesaving treatment." The participants comprised of @Ifakarahealth, @UofGlasgow, @wizara_afyatz, Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Office of the Prime Minister's One Health coordination section, President's Office, Regional Administration and Local Government Tanzania (PO-RALG), @eGA_Tanzania, @WHO, @UdsmOfficial, @FAO, and @mdh_tanzania. Together, they are committed to the collective goal of eliminating rabies in Tanzania and fostering a safer, healthier future for the nation. 🏥🇹🇿 >>ihi.or.tz/our-events/271……>>#IFAKARAEvents

This is a special paper for me, emerging from a partnership that began during a research visit to @INPE_CPTEC many moons ago. It has been such a delight to witness the effectiveness of team work and co-leadership by @mlottobatista @EleanorMRees @cmmid_lshtm @BSC_CNS 💜

Climate change is affecting how and where vector-borne diseases spread. We must act now to prevent their escalation and save lives. I’ve written about my research on what’s changing, and what needs to happen now in The Climate Book which is out today! 👇 theclimatebook.org/the-book/

How do RSV and Influenza interact? -> Co-infection increases the reporting rate -> Either a moderate reduction or almost no reduction in susceptibility following infection is compatabile with the data Take a look at our @ploscompbiol paper to see more! journals.plos.org/ploscompbiol/a…

Our study on COVID-19 reinfection in the early stages of the pandemic is now out in PLOS Biology! Huge thanks to my coauthors, the @cmmid_lshtm and SpaceX COVID-19 working groups, and particularly to my supervisors @AdamJKucharski and @drrachellowe.

#COVID19 reinfection risks: Analysis of seroepidemiological cohort suggests that primary infection with #SARSCoV2 protects against reinfection in most individuals, at least over a 6-month period @emilie_finch @AdamJKucharski &co @cmmid_lshtm #PLOSBiology plos.io/33cQzIa

Didn't contribute to this piece (not doing media while on parental leave), but if criteria was 'people communicating COVID science in UK who have lots of Twitter followers', bizarre to not include people like @mugecevik @kallmemeg @chrischirp @SMHopkins @profhelenward...
