These conversations matter, and they’re what keep me focused on delivering results for Northern Utah. I’m excited to announce my reelection campaign and look forward to earning your support again. Over the last three terms, I’ve worked hard to deliver real results for Northern Utahns. On the House Ways and Means and Budget Committees, I’ve focused on supporting small businesses, affordability, cutting wasteful spending, and drafting the Working Families Tax Cuts to lower taxes for Utah families. I drafted Trump Accounts to give financial opportunities to the next generation, and I helped structure a historic child tax credit investment, both of which were signed into law on July 4, 2025. I’ve worked to deliver for Hill Air Force Base, securing funding for the Sentinel program, modernizing depot infrastructure, fighting for higher pay, and supporting thousands of local jobs. I’m proud that my Medal of Honor Monument Act was signed into law to honor America’s heroes, and I will continue doing everything I can to support the brave men and women who protect our country every day. I’m honored to have President Trump’s endorsement as the first Utah Republican ever elected to House Leadership as the Vice Chair of the House Republican Conference. I’ve used this position to give Utah a seat at the table and prioritize our needs as a state. I’m running for another term to continue fighting for Utah and advancing conservative priorities in Congress, and I would be honored to have your support.

Sad to hear of Chief of Staff Susie Wiles’ diagnosis. It’s clear from my interactions with her that cancer faces the toughest fighter out there. I wish her a full recovery!

Grateful to be joined in Utah by Chairman @repjasonsmith and @repdavidkustoff of the U.S. House Ways & Means Committee for a conversation on tackling our nation’s debt and deficit challenges. We discussed our efforts to grow the economy, cut wasteful spending, strengthen America’s trade position, and invest in domestic manufacturing. Our working families tax cuts put American workers, families, and small businesses first. Thankful for the Chairman’s support and partnership as we continue enacting House Republicans and President Trump’s agenda.

One of my top moments this past week was working with the Utah delegation, the State Department and Secretary of State Marco Rubio to help evacuate Utahns who were stranded in the Middle East after the initial strikes on Iran. The individuals and families stranded dealt with myriad issues and they were awesome through it all. We all cheered when they made it home safely!

I officially filed to continue fighting for northern Utah today. I’m laser focused on ensuring this country is affordable and safe. I’ve been thrilled to support Utah families by passing tax cuts and supporting secure borders and a strong national defense. I appreciate President Trump’s endorsement and I’m working tirelessly with the House GOP leadership team to advance conservative policies. I look forward to meeting with you over the next few months and earning your vote.

In 2018, I proudly supported Utah’s Better Boundaries Initiative as a Republican co-chair. At the time, I believed — and still believe — that improving transparency in redistricting is a worthy goal. The proposal created standards and an independent commission to recommend maps while preserving the Legislature’s constitutional authority to make final decisions. That balance mattered. This is a simple issue for me: blue states and red states should follow redistricting standards. I supported that then and I support it now. The effort in our state was about strengthening the process — not about guaranteeing a particular mapping outcome. I also strongly oppose the idea that a judge could select congressional maps from proposals submitted by unelected plaintiffs. When that happens, accountability disappears. Judges are not elected to draw political boundaries. Plaintiffs are not accountable to voters. And if a court selects a map, citizens lose their ability to redress grievances through their elected representatives. In the case last fall, I believe the judge should have continually returned the map-drawing responsibility back to the legislature, to maintain constitutionality. That’s why I have argued that the constitutional authority of the legislature to amend ballot initiatives is vital. We can’t have super laws. I continue to strongly support a constitutional amendment, that will likely be on the November ballot, to correct the Utah Supreme Court’s July 2024 decision. This would give us clarity not just for this legal battle, but for future propositions. Utah should not turn into Oregon where ballot initiatives have overrun good policymaking and increased financial burdens. President Ronald Reagan supported the concept of independent commissions because they encouraged fairness and competition. But they were never intended to bind legislatures or override them. Commissions were meant to enhance good governance, not displace it. Fast forward to today. Utahns have once again engaged in the initiative process and It looks like they’ve gathered enough signatures to reconsider Proposition 4. Whether one supports repeal or opposes it, the right response is the same: trust the people. In 2018, Better Boundaries believed Utahns deserved a vote on this issue. Today, they and other groups are attempting to reverse participation by encouraging signature removals from the petition. They’ve gone from trusting the process to fighting for a partisan outcome. I especially condemn any misleading efforts from any group on this issue. As a former co-chair of Better Boundaries, I call on them and their partners to stop trying to undo the petition to reconsider Proposition 4 by attempting to remove signatures. We should let Utahns decide.

I loved hearing @POTUS call out our Trump Accounts legislation (and my height…) in his State of the Union. Trump Accounts allow American children to take advantage of compound interest and build real wealth. I’m honored to have worked with the President to make this a reality!

As a dad, I’ve always believed we should invest in our kids’ future. That’s why I helped build the policy behind Trump Accounts—and seeing it showcased in a Super Bowl commercial was pretty special. It’s about helping families start building real financial opportunity from day 1.

In Utah, we budget what we spend. Washington should do the same. That’s why I introduced the Comprehensive Congressional Budget Act, requiring Congress to vote on the entire federal budget every year. It’s about accountability, responsibility, and doing the job the right way.

MAJOR UPDATE: Utah recorded no agricultural land sales to foreign entities in 2024 — the most recent year of verified data. This is confirmed by @UtahDPS the @usdaFSA, which reported no AFIDA filings last year. Thanks to HB516, Utah now prohibits adversarial foreign entities from purchasing land and requires those that already own it to sell. We’ll keep defending Utah land and liberty. 🇺🇸
