I keep hearing House Republicans REALLY didn’t want ANYTHING meaningful on transmission policy. What gives? When I worked for Bush appointees in the early 2000s that wasn’t the case. When I was a House R hearing witness just about six years ago it didn’t seem to be the case. 🤔

But times have changed. The best wind resource is in the East; the best solar is in the West. These resources are very complementary as solar performs in daytime hours and wind is stronger at night. As the US moves to make power gen cleaner, the grids must be interconnected. 5/6

Kinda bummed Tesla didn’t get the interchange values right between the interconnections. Feels like Master Plan 3 was written by ChatGPT. At least they separated Texas out 🤷‍♂️

@JesseJenkins Couldn’t agree more. We need a plan. It doesn’t have to be a centrally designed plan. It could be a roll up from regions, but that roll up should solve and deficiencies identified.

Reactions to this? -Do interconnection-wide 10 year plans every year (like ENTSO-E) -Proactively build reinforcements in anticipation of needs -Allocate shallow interconnection costs to generators -Calculate deep upgrades in batches & allocate to demand in proportion to benefits
