What if useState() was your database? We're excited to have @anselm_io join us at React Miami to tell us how sync engines and local-first databases give you global, persistent reactive state, without having to worry about requests and networking at all.

Another week, another successful release of a lovingly crafted indie app built on Jazz, this time with @expo. Cuppl is an all-in-one app using Jazz’s built-in collaboration and sharing features for the most important team of them all: You and your significant other ❤️
ChristianR@ChristianR99495

After far more time than I’d planned and more rejections than I’d like to admit, my app Cuppl is finally available on the app stores. 🥳 It helps couples manage tasks, schedules, and shopping lists together in real time👇 Special thanks to @jazz_tools for making it possible.❤️

our average experience with indie devs who use Jazz is that they just show up one day with a perfectly polished app that they’ve built in no time and with no help the first couple times we thought it was a fluke congrats to @needim for launching his personal finance app!

We want to replace Durable Objects with Jazz by giving you DO-like persistence that works on any compute (and is more flexible & cheaper) Still, you can already run Jazz *on* DOs, but now it persists directly to their SQLite, thanks to @Nipsuli! “There’s no one way to Jazz” 🎷
Nipsuli@Nipsuli

Another open source contribution I’ve recently done was to @jazz_tools I use Jazz heavily with @Cloudflare durable objects and wanted to make them snappier by utilizing the SQL storage on them instead of always loading data over internet

So proud that @jazz_tools is a launch backend that you can use in @vercel’s new Workflow DevKit. Durable workflows are arguably the compute abstraction of the decade - the best DX for persistence/queues is one that fully disappears. Jazz is uniquely suited to power workflows…

. @tillydotsocial is the wholesome counterpart to the soul crushing emptiness of friend dot com making you a better friend and making real friends a bigger part of your life oh and it’s *another* super polished app built by a single person, with Jazz and it’s open source!!
Carl Assmann@ccssmnn

My friend mentioned an upcoming interview. Another mentioned they were finishing their PhD thesis. I forgot to reach out and ask how it went. This kept happening. So I built Tilly - a relationship journal so simple that I actually use it.

People keep asking us if @jazz_tools will have vector search... What's better than building a first class vector search feature for Jazz in maybe a couple months? A single person right now being able to ship it as a small, very neat, very high quality library *on top of* Jazz!
Radek Kyselý@rkysely

@jazz_tools is my local-first database of choice for many reasons but it was missing vector search. So I built one. You can now do on-device vector search with Jazz! github.com/kysely/jazz-ve…

I don’t like talking about @jazz_tools’s competitors directly, it should shine on its own merits. And @convex today is a more complete, mature solution. But this really surprised me. We had 10+ regional sync caches from day one. That’s kind of the whole point vs a trad DB.
James Cowling@jamesacowling

The primary motivation for additional regions has been data sovereignty, so the first extra region will likely be Frankfurt. I'd love to make Aus latency lower but I think the best approach for apps that target both Aus and US markets is for us to finish building sync proxies that cache subscription state locally to mask latency.

My full talk from @localfirstconf is up! Featuring 1y of progress on @jazz_tools. And: two big announcements, both previewed in the most sketchy, yet successful demo I've ever done. - Waffle, a Discord/Slack alternative built on Jazz - Soul, our upcoming AI toolkit for Jazz

The brand of “local-first” is fucked💀 Between zealots arguing for a narrow, utopian interpretation… And sync engines benefitting from a fake tradeoff… Many in the space have given up calling themselves local-first. @jazz_tools will remain “subtly but proudly” local-first🧵
jenna@jjenzz

🔖 tired of fighting cache bloat, race conditions, and manual revalidation? @zero__ms offers a fresh take on syncing server data, built for modern apps. It’s not local-first. It’s partial sync first. And it’s better. jjenzz.com/zero-is-not-lo…

The coolest thing was being able to bring the whole team and really have time to help each new adopter. If you missed out on that, we’re still around for two days - and our Discord is the next best thing: we’re all builders ourselves and would love to hear about what you’re building.
