One question I always ask Christians that I have never gotten any reasonable answer for is … If heaven involves perfect, unending happiness for the “saved”, how is it possible for them to experience that joy while retaining full knowledge of…and genuine love for…people they cared about who are were never saved and are suffering eternal torment in hell? Alternatively, if God erases or suppresses those memories to preserve heavenly bliss, does this not compromise the authenticity of the personal identity of the “saved …and the very notion of a perfectly loving and just deity who’s willing to erase people’s memory of their own loved one? These aren’t mundane questions.

@m966021 Care to elaborate? It appears such that there are alternative worldviews that could provide such meaning (e.g., Buddhism) in a non-theistic framework, but naturalism certainly entails a fundamental meaninglessness. Subjective temporal meaning does not refute this necessarily

If an instant healing of a condition that typically does not just go away, and the patient is left without ailments indicative of their previous condition, and this is in the context of prayer, is not then what is?

@InspiringPhilos Athiest response: It just happens that way sometimes. Just because we can't explain it doesn't mean it's God working. Especially if it looks exactly like God working. I didn't see it happen again in a clinical setting with double-blind peer review so it can't be confirmed.

@Based_Ted_Cruz @InspiringPhilos What's described in the video is not something minor, though? That's a big deal. Also, is it not the opposite? One would only have to provide substantive evidence for ONE miracle to show that miracles happen. Doesn't mean they're going to be common but yeah

I am an atheist, and I have no god or religion to protect or be biased about or for; they are all mythology stories, creative human inventions. Religion is a cultural product and moved in cultural migrations.

What baffles me about homophobia is this: gay people don’t affect your finances, your health, or your progress in any way. So going out of your way to spread hate just means you’re just a horrible person. Also, using religion doesn’t make you less horrible.
