Today, we are moving our 2020 captive bred cohort of #FreshwaterPearlMussels to their new home, small boxes of sand which are better suited to their filter feeding stage. They are now about 3 mm long and pretty sturdy @MarineInst @npwsBioData @pearl_mussel #Margaritifera

Yesterday, we got a new batch of 30 adult #FreshwaterPearlMussels from the Newport River for our captive breeding program at the @MarineInst Newport. Between 2022 and 2024, we will be refining our protocols and comparing mussel and salmonid cohorts @EvelynMoorkens @npwsBioData
