Great first week in my new role as Comms Manager for @CommCats ! Delighted to join the team and received such a warm welcome from everyone 😊 Also got to see some of lovely Harrogate - and its festive trees!

"I live off £30 a month." A Joseph Rowntree Foundation report estimates the number of people experiencing ‘destitution’, which it defines as having a very low income or having to go without basic supplies, has more than doubled in the last five years in the UK.

Destitution is when you can't stay warm and dry, you don't know where you will find your next meal. 3.8 million people in the UK experienced destitution last year - including 1 million children - a 61% rise since 2019. Truly shocking - analysis from @jrf_uk ⬇️

10 years ago I met a disabled little boy in a respite children’s home in Leicester. Only it wasn’t a respite for him, it was his home and he’d lived there for 3 years. His foster mum who he’d lived from birth died suddenly when he was 3 and he never ate or drank again. 🧵
