Australia's new budget lacks delivery of stability and prosperity. Australia needs to focus on delivering long term programs that improve the lives of people in poverty. #SDG1 #Budget2022 #UoNteach #educ4750

Thanks for sharing, Temaleti! This looks like a great resource to engage K-2 students in #SDG13! This could even be an awesome way to integrate climate action into brain breaks for students! I also think it is great that it is directly linked to the #SDGs! #educ4750 #UoNTeach
Temaleti L@Temaleti8

Goal #sdg13.3 targets to improve education and rise awareness in the classroom, this friendly website by the UNICEF organisation provides pedological resources where students are engaged through song-filled cartoon adventures & learn about the changing climate #UoNteach #educ4750

@LonerganLily Absolutely, there is so much literature available to address the sustainable development goals. Have you found any for your unit @LonerganLily?

@EllenRae19 I love this idea! What a great way to incorporate literacy into a unit of work. You could read this book to students at the beginning of the lesson to introduce your unit on #SDG1.

Beyond saddened to learn that out of all age groups, children are the most likely to be living in poverty. With 1 in 6 children living below the poverty line in NSW. Why is there so much economic disadvantage in our state? #SDG1 #Educ4750 #Uonteach

@LonerganLily Providing a stimulus is a great way to promote #collaboration. I don’t have a great deal of experience with ‘Thinking hats’ but have heard great things

@EllenRae19 Show students videos or even give them a photo stimulus. This will promote discussion between students where they will begin to drive their own learning! Have you thought about using De Bono's thinking hats? This would be a great idea to foster a more student-driven lesson!

#ProjectBasedLearning is where students participate in authentic learning experiences through an inquiry process (Budiarti, Macqueen, Ferguson-Patrick & Reynolds, 2021). How can we enhance #PBL to make it more student-driven? #UoNTeach #EDUC4750

@EllenRae19 @WARATAHWESTPS I believe an important prerequisite for teaching #reconciliation is having a strong understanding of the histories, cultures and languages of your local area (through consultation). If this understanding is reflected in your pedagogy, your students will benefit tremendously.

@LonerganLily @LonerganLily, the statistics are concerning. However there are things we can do, it is easy to look at the poverty crisis and feel helpless. As teachers we can educate future generations to be climate conscious, create awareness and volunteer to help achieve #nopoverty

@EllenRae19 @TwinklAustralia I love this idea @EllenRae19. I definitely think the use of ICT grabs students attention straight away, I also think applying hands on activities and working in groups to collaborate ideas works well also! Have you tried that before?

@jasmine_mcvean You are exactly right, the more I learn about the #SDGs the more I realise how they all relate so closely. I think it would be hard to solely teach students about 1 #SDG without addressing others!

@EllenRae19 All #SDGs are interconnected and it is definitely something to consider that the goals all need to be achieved together! I am doing #SDG13 so it is important to consider that it can link to #SDG1 for example! Thanks Ellen for the insight!

Climate change disproportionately affects those living in #poverty and is increasing the divide between those with resources and those without. Climate resistant crops are one way we can minimise impacts of climate change. #SDG1 #NoPoverty #EDUC4750 #UoNTeach #ClimateCrisis

Imbedding the 8 ways of learning framework within the classroom is definitely one of many ways to support #21stcenturylearning. Small changes within the classroom can make huge changes to a students education experience! #SDG #education #UoNTeach #educ4750
