@9mmsmg It's a necessary fig leaf of a legal justification for what they plan to do next. They've been telling us they want to kill whitey for some time now. We should take them at their word. Wrongthink is merely the legal excuse.

They set Chud's bail at 1.25 million. The judge mentioned part of the reason was how many people were in the courtyard at the time of the shooting. Why does that factor in? He didn't choose to be assaulted. He didn't say "This is where my gunfight will be." The man who attacked him chose to do it there. The man who attacked him chose to have zero impulse control and commit an act of violence. He held all of the cards. I'm seeing a lot of people saying the assault was justified as "freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from consequences." Does that mean you should be free from consequences when you attack someone? I don't even like Chud. He's a loud and annoying streamer and I can't stand irl streamers. What they're doing is railroading him to bow to the political mob, as usual. You don't get to just physically attack people because you don't like their views in a civilized society. A guilty verdict means that it's perfectly acceptable to attack people if they offend you and that's disgusting.

Delta rejected adopting SpaceX's @Starlink on its fleet because it wanted to provide internet connectivity to passengers via the Delta Sync portal, instead of the Starlink-branded portal. Delta has since chosen to partner with Amazon's LEO. This will result in Delta falling behind many of its competitors in offering high-speed WiFi onboard, as many other carriers are already offering or installing Starlink, whereas Amazon's LEO airplane WiFi for Delta is still a couple year away (or more). Satellites currently in orbit: • SpaceX's Starlink: 10,400 • Amazon's LEO: 300 (Delta rejection info according to Ron Baron)

@ChristianHeiens Lo and behold, we can solve both problems for them at the same time! Primary all of them. Then they won't have to fear the NYT or their voters. I keep hearing about how easy-going retirement is. We should introduce them to it.

There's an enormous chunk of Republican politicians at the state legislative level who fear the editorial staff of the New York Times more than they do their own party's primary voters.

@MattWalshBlog I suspect they think they can get away with it because the vast majority of people today think that Troy was in Northwest Africa. It was in modern day Turkey.

We're told that we shouldn't object to Helen of Troy being portrayed as a black woman. And yet if a major Hollywood studio made a film set in Africa and cast a white woman as "the most beautiful woman in Africa," those same people would literally riot in the street. If, say, Sydney Sweeney was cast in the role, they'd be driven to murderous violence. We all know this is the case.

@MartinSkold2 Yes, wages will fall. The question is the ratio of how much they fall versus housing prices. If housing falls 50% (420k->210k) but wages only fall 20% (75k->60k) then a large number people on the median salary will be able afford the median house.

The ideal scenario would be a real estate crash that did not hit the median worker’s income. And while you might be able to solve the political angle on that one, the mathematics never works out: When real estate falls, wages get hit too. What actually would work is some broad-based, multi-sector growth based on real, physical productivity reflected in wages. Ie, a manufacturing boom that also employed people. Just a few hurdles to jump there. 👀

@yieldsearcher And the longer the war goes on, the more violent the rerate will be. The damage being done to the real economy under the hood is immense. Bills always come due summer or later.

@bishara You fix this by crashing the asset markets that the younger generations haven't been able to participate in. Housing being the most important.

Lots of arguments about this one. Many people assume Nazis could not have been socialists, despite all the time and energy they devoted to jumping up and down screaming "We are socialists!", because they were "right-wing" and socialism is supposed to be "left-wing". Except "right-wing" and "left-wing" don't have rigid definitions outside the context of the French revolution. In any other context, they're just a metaphor. So why did the NATIONAL Socialist German Workers' Party and the INTERNATIONAL Marxist-Leninist Socialist Workers' Movement hate each other so much? It's pretty obvious when you look at the names. National. International. To Nazis, the race and culture of a people are everything. They are what the state is supposed to represent. Ein Volk, as they would say. The purpose of Nazi socialism is to control capital assets, subordinating them to the will and welfare of the ethnostate. But Marxist-Leninists seek to abolish all ethnostates. They are a globalist movement, seeking to place all capital assets under the control of a universal proletariat in theory, which is in practice represented by one world government. Thus, Nazis sought to use socialist policies for the welfare of the German people and Marxist-Leninists seek to abolish "German" as a meaningful distinction, along with all other cultures. The antipathy between Nazis and communists was a sectarian struggle within socialism. Same methods, but different sacred groups. Since the defeat of National Socialism by International Socialism in WW2, all modern socialism is pretty much of the international variety. This does, however, suggest that there is a contrast between National Capitalism and International Capitalism as well. Which is the source of the current sectarian struggle between elements of the American right wing.

Arguably the cruelest thing we’ve done in our economic policy since before the dotcom crash has been to use financial tools to mitigate recessions, in order to prevent “another Great Depression.” It’s not just that by allowing financial dead wood to pile up we’ve teed up an even bigger one - it’s that we’ve accustomed our people to -generations- of stagnation instead. The Great Depression was over in 10-11 years; the worst was over in 5 (and it’s generally thought the New Deal prolonged it). We’ve accustomed our young people to almost -30 years- of low-to-zero growth, and in particular close to zero wage growth. If you told people they should be confident entrepreneurs in their work lives now because our troubles were over, they wouldn’t believe you.
QE Infinity@StealthQE4

The K shaped economy is the worst thing that has ever happened in this country. Too much wealth at the top and their greed for more is insatiable. It’s never enough. 80% of America has been in a recession for years at this point and can no longer pay their bills.

@SouthernMB82 I'd note that a foreigner who is committing acts of war or subversion against the US for a foreign nation, even under the cover of citizenship, has fraudulently obtained their naturalization and thus it is void. Many such Chinese cases. Keep up the good work! 🫡

@yieldsearcher It'll be revised down. Just like that last dozen or so. Revised payrolls for the year are negative. But the stock market machine only cares about the initial headline, which is why the downward revision play always works. This will work until the machine decides otherwise.

NFP beat, but AHE was soft. New jobs wages aren’t following the oil inflation shock. Plenty of puts and takes in the details, but for now the headline number is not too hot, not too cold. Weak wage growth with gas this high is not great for consumers though.

@CJHandmer It isn't bizarre at all. It's really quite a clever move from the mid-wit set. How else can you prevent the more intelligent from noticing and interfering with your looting of the public?

It's kind of bizarre to me that we isolate people ranked by intelligence from any semblance of the real world until their period of easy mutability is far in the rear mirror. "You're unusually clever and probably future leadership material. We'll isolate you from any real responsibility or the consequences of your actions until you're 25 or so. Then you'll never understand why the productive economy can't integrate you and your life outcomes are actively frustrating. Good luck achieving financial independence or reproducing."
Casey Handmer@CJHandmer

I find this discourse perplexing because it presupposes that universities had previously been preparing people well for the rigors of the workplace. Which is absolutely hilarious to anyone who deals with early career candidates and fresh graduates in the real world.

@HLC_actual Pilot here. My first ever 737 sim landing was graded as "Navy". I was never military, but it is a well-known thing among pilots that Navy pilots are a special brand of harsh on their equipment. So much so that we use it as a grade for landings.
