@Tesla I highly suggest you place a Service Center in Kernersville, NC. It sits in the middle of the Piedmont Triad area between Greensboro, Winston-Salem and High Point. That would conveniently serve 1.7 Million people. There may be old dealerships available you could convert.

@Ellsworth They seem remarkably easy to make. I’ve made two batches, the second included ground pepper, to spice ‘em up. Neither batch has provided ‘rock hard’ examples. Unless they age harden (considerably) I’m inclined to think that bit of their legend is mere myth.What’s your experience?

Today I am mostly making hardtack. Mostly. Seemingly, if baked correctly, these simple rations will last, remain perfectly edible for years, quite literally for years. A staple of navy life of the 1800s; the American civil war; the Great War, and beyond. So, let’s give ‘em a go!
