@MichaelRosenYes Late 50s and most school puddings were dire - but I was the winner when it was semolina pudding. I loved it and could have eaten as much as I wanted, as bowls were surreptitiously slid down the table to me. ( for balance, I wasn’t fond of rice pudding & loathed tapioca !! )

For school dinns today, in a school today, I went with baked potato and beans. Also on offer was a homemade chocolate cake in celebration of my 'Chocolate Cake' saga. There was a discussion about the jam filling.

@fesshole Maybe it’s related to synaesthesia. I have colour/letter & sound/shape synaesthesia but there’s a form which personalises numbers &letters ( ie. “ number 5 is untrustworthy” ) I’ve not experienced this, but wonder if what we’re talking about might be related to it …..

@fesshole And if one piece of washing is alone on a section of washing line, I unpeg an item I’ve already hung out & hang it next to the other one so they don’t feel alone

I often have compassion for inanimate objects. For example, if I'm about to refill the teabag tin & there's one in there, I'll put the lone teabag on the top of the pile to make sure it's used next, as it's that teabag's turn.

@davedhjones @wat_thee_deuce_ Much the same here , Dave, in the ‘50s….. several school friends lived in them.

@wat_thee_deuce_ There were a significant number of bungalow and semi detached houses in Merthyr where I grew up in the 1950s and 1960s. They were more structurally sound and many outlasted a lot of the houses that came later.

Does anyone remember these?
