New paper is out, we investigated what hummingbirds may do if nectars get very dilute! This paper has been a long and familiar friend, through multiple career stages. It has seen many iterations and I am so proud of its final form!

@EltingRosey I’m in the market too, following! I just chatted with a spider neurobio friend about this yesterday - he recommended trying older GoPro models (cheaper) for continuous video + quality; fast shutter speeds of some fancy cameras apparently get $$$ fast

Bird Twitter: Looking for the best trail cam to capture hummers. I am doing research, but nothing beats personal experience! Wish list: - fast shutter speed - capture short (ideally high def) videos rather than one frame. - runs off 12V battery (least important) Thoughts?

Jumping into literature in fields adjacent to my previous work has been so fulfilling in early-PhD For instance, just read this amazing 2014 paper on falcon's prey perception, head and eye motion, and pursuit method from 2014 JEB by Kane and Zamani. doi.org/10.1242/jeb.09…

@kirstyjean I think it depends on the camera. With some you can just remove a filter under the lens and in front of the sensor. Lifepixel.com is a great place to get info/modified cameras!
