We are so excited to be part of this @ScienceShef @sheffieldcogdev, working with an amazing team led by @GaiaScerif. We’ll be trialling a co-developed intervention aimed at supporting early years practitioners to embed executive functions into numeracy based play activities.

Little is known, although much is theorized, about the long-run benefits of boosting children's social-emotional skills. Across 450 post-test & follow-up impacts from 86 RCTs, we found similar fadeout rates for intervention impacts on social-emotional & cognitive skills. 1/11

I feel very lucky to have worked with colleagues to lead a report with Child of the North - setting out an evidence-based plan to tackle the crisis in preschool provision. The report is launched today and already has lots of media coverage 🤩 n8research.org.uk/research-focus…

A pleasure to be involved in this important report out today 📣 on the importance of prioritising the early years and supporting preschool education. Lovely to see our maths & EF intervention “the ONE” featured as an example of innovative practice.

Wonderful to host @Dr_Tre_Crew today who gave a brilliant seminar on experiences of being working class in higher education. Themes of identity, belonging & the role of precarity. The quote “class runs through me like a stick of rock” will stay with me. Thanks, Teresa!

For everyone who is touched by the huge impact of domestic abuse on women and children, this research sets a precedent for listening to the voices of women, hearing their lived experiences and changing policy and practice to meet the needs of women. Together.

1. I’ve been lucky to have been a @UKRI_News Future Leader Fellow @FLFDevNetwork for the last few years, with training ending this week in an inspiring leadership retreat. As academics I think we often are cynical about visions and management speak, but I’ve felt feeling inspired
