@human_hank @mynameisjohn260 @memeticsisyphus And yet still you know nothing... amazing. God commanded the death penalty and Christians have spent the better part of 2000 years developing just war theory, just to name 2 examples of why you're wrong.

@EmDDubya @memeticsisyphus He is saying that there is no kidnappers veto. You cannot tape hostages to all your vital military infrastructure and then expect the west to throw up its hands and say “they’ve deployed the baby shield we surrender to the might of Islam” This is what he means by older than 12

@LeadingReport True. Also illegal to target civilian infrastructure without a military application...

BREAKING: President Trump says it is “totally illegal” for Iran to use children and other civilians as shields at the power plants and bridges, per NBC.

@the41guy @memeticsisyphus That's the biggest part i have a problem with here. Especially since they claim that there is essentially no military needing to use the bridges

@EmDDubya @memeticsisyphus I admit there’s a fair distinction to draw between explicitly military targets and logistical support targets like bridges and the power grid

@EmDDubya @memeticsisyphus And yes, it is permissible to straight up kill hostages, people just think its morally wrong. I am a hostage centrist - one shouldn't ever respond to any demands by terrorists holding them, but one should attempt rescue by force if it is practical.

@EmDDubya @memeticsisyphus But if the tactic works, which is to say the US calls off the attack, isn’t that simply a green light to use that tactic in every conceivable scenario?

@the41guy @memeticsisyphus Valid point. You'd have to take it case by case. At this point he continues to back himself into worse and worse corners.

@EmDDubya @memeticsisyphus It's arguably a moral necessity to be willing to kill the hostages. Otherwise you are just incentivising more hostage taking so these people can continue to do their bullshit.

@the41guy @memeticsisyphus Sure. That doesn't mean it's just ok to blow up civilians. I would see a little more of an argument is they put a bunch of civilians in an army base, but these are non military targets with the statement of destroying not just the regime, but the country as a whole

@EmDDubya @memeticsisyphus But surely you would agree that the Iranian action of using human shields is *more* morally impermissible than ignoring the blackmail, right?

Amnesty, FISA, and defunding CPB is not what Americans voted for. I’m not going along to get along on this.
