oh my god

When you choose the right husband, your child gets the right father.. girls

We had four minutes to speak in the debate yesterday on the King’s Speech. Here is my speech written up in Hansard. I chose to focus on SEND. There is a startling elephant in the room which I hear barely anyone ask. So I’m asking it. Why are there so many more SEND children? And why are we spending such vast sums of money on this system without asking basic questions: What interventions are best to help these children? Why don’t we research and test the therapies and interventions? Does the current approach of labelling and medical diagnosis serve children? Or are there other ways society should be supporting them and their families? The government is to be credited with recognising the distress of families faced with long waiting lists. But they risk making a bad situation much worse if they don’t start being honest and truthful about the SEND system and the perverse incentives that exist inside it. Four minutes doesn’t allow any unpacking of nuance. I write in more detail on my Substack. open.substack.com/pub/rightwingw…

The DfE needs to monitor the distribution of pupils with SEND across schools because some are facing ‘unsustainable’ pressure while others are not developing their inclusive practice, says @TheNFER research tes.com/magazine/news/…
