@Em_Means13 @RideUTA @RivertonUtahGov I also think population size (both employment centers and residential) should also play a role. One challenge we face is that federal standards limit UTA’s growth in many Wasatch Front communities. Many local and state leaders are working to change those standards.

Pursuant to a new state law, @RideUTA has to finally start publicizing how much sales tax is collected in each city. @RivertonUtahGov contributes $7.8M in sales tax to UTA annually! Of the cities without a dedicated bus line, we are one of the highest contributors.

@andypierucciUT @RideUTA @RivertonUtahGov Hi, Council Member. Exciting news about your bus lines! I'm wondering which cities contribute less than Riverton but receive more transit services? Also, do you think UTA coverage should be proportionate to each city's sales tax investment, or how should UTA prioritize service?

@RideUTA For reference, here’s the list of sales tax contributions from cities in SL County. You can see from the list that @RivertonUtahGov contributes more than several cities who have significantly more transit services. I look forward to continuing to work to address this imbalance.

Yesterday, I was informed that my role was among those eliminated at KSL.com. I am incredibly saddened, to say the least. I am proud of the work I’ve done over the past four years and the trust given to me by so many to tell important stories.

A person in a car could drive from Salt Lake City to St. George faster than a homeless person would be able to walk from downtown Salt Lake City to the most remote of the sites being considered for a new shelter. crossroadsurbancenter.org/2/post/2024/11…

NIMBYism literally leaving unsheltered Utahns out in the cold. The arguments are the same ones we hear over and over again re: siting shelters/services/housing: "I am all for helping those less fortunate, BUT ..."

@DeedaSeed Thank you, Deeda. This story is infuriating and has literal life-or-death consequences.

Regardless of whether there’s a perfect location to serve its own unsheltered residents, the truth is people are homeless and cold in Davis County, and we need to take responsibility for our neighbors. That’s how we show that we really are “all for helping those less fortunate.”

But in SLC, I live 3 blocks from a shelter, 1 block from treatment housing, and less than a mile from a church that WILL be hosting people for Code Blue. And I would be proud — and grateful! — if the OTHER church in my neighborhood offered to bring even more people in.
