Everyone submits a bid. Highest bidder wins. But fairness depends on one condition: Bids must remain secret until the end. In traditional systems: • bids are hidden • participants cannot see others • outcomes are revealed after submission This prevents manipulation. But in Web3: • bids can be visible • participants can react in real time • outcomes can be influenced before finalization This breaks the system. It leads to: • last minute outbidding • collusion • unfair advantages When bids are visible, strategy replaces fairness. Now suppose sealed bid auctions on a confidential system. With Seismic: • bids are encrypted • no participant can see others bids • all submissions remain hidden during the process • results are revealed only after completion This restores true competition. • participants bid honestly • no one can react to others • outcomes reflect real value At the same time: • results are verifiable • rules are enforced • manipulation is minimized Privacy doesn’t reduce transparency.
