We firmly reject the recent unilateral coercive measures adopted by the #UnitedStates government. These actions demonstrate an intention to impose, once again, collective punishment on the Cuban people. It is no coincidence that these measures were announced on May 1, the very day that millions of Cubans take to the streets to denounce the US blockade and the energy siege. While the US government represses its own people in the streets, it seeks to punish ours, who are heroically resisting the US imperialism’s attacks. These measures are extraterritorial in nature and violate the United Nations Charter. The US has no right whatsoever to impose measures against #Cuba or against third countries or entities.

“Elegance, identity, and diplomacy” are the terms used by The President Woodrow Wilson House to describe the Cuban Guayabera. This garment was part of the exhibition “Fashioning Power, Fashioning Peace” in Washington, D.C. Our Guayabera stood out alongside dresses from 57 countries and garments representing the United Nations. According to the respected institution, the Guayabera reflects national pride and a form of quite, cultural influence.

#Cuba 🇨🇺 does not forget the attack against its embassy in Washington in April 2020. Six years later, impunity persists for an act that endangered human lives and calls into question the protection of diplomatic missions. Far from being an isolated episode, this attack is part of a policy of hostility sustained for more than six decades by the United States toward Cuba—a context that has also seen violent actions and expressions of terrorism against the nation. In the face of this, the fight against terrorism allows for no selectivity or double standards. It requires consistency, responsibility, and an unequivocal condemnation, regardless of political interests.
