@kangminlee Even in Cuba, the government sanctions churches/denominations, and those that aren’t face governmental persecution and are unlikely to be publicly highlighted.

@kangminlee In all likelihood, the state of the church there is the same as China—in which true believers are forced to meet in secret unless they hold to some edited version of scripture and Christian belief. That’s not to say all those attending these PR churches are unsaved, however.

Pray for the Church in North Korea. Remember Pyongyang is where revival broke out on the Korean Peninsula. And by His grace it will be Christian again. Christ is King!

@JennMGreenberg Actually, going to self-correct here since that could make it seem God approves evil. It’s more fear of God and thus upholding protection of innocent life > fear of man.

@JennMGreenberg Would it be biblical to say lying is sometimes a necessary evil? Similar to war or killing in self-defense; needed to protect the innocent.

I’ll never forget, once in Sunday school at an OPC church here in Texas, the pastor asked, “If you lived in Nazi Germany, and you had Jews hidden in your house, and Nazis came knocking on your door asking where any Jews are, would it be sinful to lie?” Obviously, the answer is no. I was shocked when two men said yes, it would be a sin to lie to Nazis, Even if telling the truth would get innocent people killed. To be clear, I grew up in the OPC and had never encountered this nonsense, and I do not think this is normative in the OPC. However, the fact that Spangler used to be OPC, and is now praising Hitler, demonstrates that it isn’t a phantom threat either. It has to be stamped out. What about the Hebrew midwives who lied to the Egyptian soldiers to protect the baby boys from death? Were they not praised as courageous and virtuous? What about Rahab who hid the Hebrew spies and lied to the soldiers of Jericho to turn them away? Was she not redeemed and rewarded by God? The commandant in Exodus 20:16 says, “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.” In other words, do not maliciously spread untruths or use your words to harm innocent people. To aid the Nazis is to break the commandment. To deceive the Nazis is to protect the innocent, defy evil, and partake in an historic tradition of honoring God by thwarting evil.

Getting a lot of messages about people at Saint Andrews being scared of blowback/excommunication if they submit their membership withdrawal. Crazy that average peaceable people are losing sleep over this. You just leave, and go to another church. SAC is an Independent paper tiger.
