@McKinneyESOL A: Pairing the student with a buddy or two may be one way to help the student feel welcomed. Using visual cues for things like the bathroom, water fountain, school supplies etc.. and a visual schedule can also help. #huskychat

Newcomer ESOL students who are new to the U.S. and don’t speak English, face a variety of challenges both inside and outside of school. While we have them at school, we can make them feel comfortable, increase their confidence, and support language acquisition. #huskychat

@McKinneyESOL A: The ACCESS student score reports can help me better understand how proficient my students are with the English language. I can also use this information when to help me set realist goals and expectations for my ELs when planning lessons. #huskychat

Our commitment to the academic growth of our ESOL students begins with instruction. Using the access score report can show strengths and weaknesses, what students can do at their level, and target our instruction to fill in gaps. #huskychat

Chase growth - not perfection.
Perfection is based on opinions, many times other people’s opinions. You cannot control opinions. Growth IS in your control. Grow daily, grow consistently. @N2Learning #TXPVI @E_Sheninger

A school wide math or reading extravaganza! Planned a math extravaganza years ago. A huge success ! Students, teachers, and parents loved it! #huskychat

Q2: I think there has to be some balance. Just like our minds are more peaceful and calm at home when the house is decluttered, students often feel this way in the classroom. It can be distracting if every wall is covered. #huskychat

A4: I make an effort to learn about the different cultures represented in my classroom and around the school community. I believe an important part of teaching/talking about culture is to allow time for questioning and sharing.
