@NonsoIgbo @FabrizioRomano Trigger the release clause 😜
Nah Chelsea’s downfall I want
English

🚨🔵 Understand Chelsea have been very clear with Barcelona: no intention at all to negotiate, discuss or talk about João Pedro.
#CFC see João as key part of project, it’s not about bid/value. No intention to sell at all.
Chelsea consider João untouchable. 🇧🇷

English

@CFCNirel @FabrizioRomano Bro, u know if they are buying Delap they have to by Tosin and Badiashille
Tosin unlocks Badiashille and Badiashille unlocks Delap

Unpopular opinion, but I honestly don’t see myself buying a house in Canada 🇨🇦
I’m 42 now. Taking a massive mortgage at this age just doesn’t feel viable to me anymore. If I was in my 20s or even early 30s, maybe.
Even with almost 50% down payment available, I’d still rather rent and keep my flexibility, peace of mind and liquidity.
Owning a home here is not the only definition of success, but the maintenance, property tax, interest payments and long-term debt can mentally drain someone.
Would you buy or continue renting in Canada?👀
English

@MattyKoebel @TimeyinI The same way the housing market can crash and you're stuck with the property or sell at a loss.
Anyhow we look at it, the lender which is the bank is the ultimate winner when you buy a house on mortgage.
English

@Andrew13610 @TimeyinI Is there some data to back this up?
I'm speaking from the POV of newcomers who mostly landed in Canada in their mid 30s or even 40s upwards. They're starting afresh while their contemporaries, Canadians born here have a head start.
Can't be the same for both categories
English

@Emiking1 @TimeyinI Sorry, but you have it very wrong. Very, very few people bought a house in their 20s and had it paid off in their 30s. LOL. First, lots don't buy until their 30s. Second, the standard mortgage has a 25 year amortization, so even IF it was bought at 25, you're not done until 50.
English

@MattyKoebel @TimeyinI Can't be equal when the renter is using the extra funds saved from not paying property fees in bonds, stocks and other investments that also build equity.
Also you can't put a price on the flexibility of switching location, a luxury which the home owner doesn't have.
English

@Okey_Bernie @TimeyinI You're right no doubt but it's not 100% rosy as the realtors make it seem. Why peg down almost all your funds in a single investment? Also opportunity cost of losing your flexibility. There are folks who couldn't move location despite finding better opportunities elsewhere.
English

@TimeyinI @Emiking1 Well, the upside is, you're building equity. You're still going to pay rent, why not see it as one of the vehicles working towards your retirement savings?
You sell, hopefully it has appreciated, you walk away with the equity (being your primary residence, it is tax free).
English

@MattyKoebel @TimeyinI Listed properties can sometimes take months, even years to sell at the desired price. While waiting you must continue paying those recurrent fees.
Buying a rental property is fine though but personally I think there are more efficient ways to build equity and invest long term
English

@EletaValentine @TimeyinI So then seniors are saddled with staying & paying high maintenance bills for an empty house or selling. But then they're even too weak to enjoy the proceeds of the sale.
English

@EletaValentine @TimeyinI If we look at it holistically, those very expensive houses most people spend a very good portion of their productive lives paying off, they don't even live in them in their twilight years.
By then the kids would be all grown and probably moved.

Some nursing homes struggle to attract visitors. One in the Netherlands chose to invite roommates instead.
In the Dutch city of Deventer, a retirement home called Humanitas introduced an idea that would eventually gain attention around the world.
Rather than accepting loneliness as a normal part of aging, they approached it as something that could actually be solved.
For over ten years, Humanitas has allowed university students to live inside the nursing home rent free.
In return, the students spend about thirty hours each month connecting with residents. Sometimes that means sharing meals, having conversations, helping with technology, joining activities, or simply keeping someone company during a quiet afternoon.
They are not nurses or employees. They are simply part of the community.
At first, the idea sounded like a smart response to expensive student housing.
But the real impact appeared in the lives of the residents. Reports from outlets such as PBS NewsHour and AARP described seniors becoming more social, more active, and less isolated once younger people became part of everyday life.
What makes the story even more meaningful is that many students chose to spend far more time there than the agreement required.
Some even stayed connected after graduating. Over time, casual interactions turned into genuine friendships.
Humanitas didn’t really create something new. It brought back something many societies once had naturally: different generations living side by side instead of separately.
Maybe the issue was never aging itself. Maybe it was the distance we created between generations.
Sometimes the most powerful ideas are simply old human connections rediscovered.
