@GiorgiaMeloni is this how your government will stand and watch your own @FranceskAlbs get intimidated and harassed by powers which far exceeds her capacity to fight back, all because she did her job the way it should be done? People globally overwhelmingly believe she was a credit to Italy as a country. But why isn't the Italian government helping her and her family out of this crisis.

Francesca Albanese describes her life now as completely transformed and unstable, saying it feels like a “rollercoaster.” After speaking out on Gaza, she began receiving death threats, including threats against her children, and had to seek protection. The pressure has extended to her family, with her husband’s career affected and her daughter also caught up in the situation. Sanctions imposed by Trump’s administration have made everyday life difficult—her property was seized, she can’t use credit cards, and often relies on cash or help from friends. Source: The Guardian

The North is more politically mature than any other region in Nigeria. The only southern candidate they will elect is the one that will spend only 4 years and handover and that person is the incumbent. Most governors of the North also realise that this election is required to push out the political class of 1999, on account of age. Whereas, electing an Atiku or Kwankwaso breathes new life into some of them and keeps them on the stage for longer. For more years of Tinubu and 8 years of the next northern president retires Peter Obi also.

Last election’s strategy was Christians and the South West. He has fully exited both now. This time, the North is the target. Started with those low budget embarrassing water projects. The first strategy earned a semi-final finish. This one will end at the party primaries level (except he runs from the party again). PS: The north is generally torn between power for itself or just letting Tinubu run his full course. No other alternative is on the table. Easy to know if you are paying attention. Tinubu knows. Everyone who is meant to know knows.

I am sure you think all your readers were not alive, a few short months ago when Venezuela was blockaded by the US. Where was that freedom of. Navigation you speak about now? What is the US doing to Cuba right now? Why is that country being blockaded? It was a long time ago when you had the semblance of credibility you somehow still believe you possess.

For most of America's history, freedom of navigation has been treated not as a privilege to be sold, but as a right to be defended. To abandon that now in the Strait of Hormuz, as President Trump has suggested, is to trade a durable advantage for a fleeting gain. My take:

@Eazzy_Ayo622121 Because some among them say wrong things and your response is to go in the dirt just to end up looking like them. The 'omoluabi' in Yorubas and the pride we take in ourselves, ought to make us exclude ourselves from certain conversations where no progress can be made.

@Eazzy_Ayo622121 Just like you, I am Yoruba first. But my being Yoruba first does not require me to hate others or denigrate them as a lot of you often do. We do not and should not beg anyone to like us as a people but we should not intentionally cultivate hatred towards ourselves as a people.

Iran is the country which has been threatened by the US that it will accelerate blowing up its civilian infrastructure. Iran is the one facing Israel and the US together, as they take turns to bombs it's people and infrastructure. Iran is the one which everyone admits does not yet have a nuclear weapon but is made to face attacks from the US and Israel on the basis of intention, whilst Israel has nuclear weapons but faces no consequences for how illicit their nuclear weapons program is.. Iran is the one which twice got attacked whilst in the middle of negotiations.. Iran is the one saying it doesn't want a ceasefire but an actual end to the war, and seeks guarantees that it will not be attacked again, if such an agreement is reached. How can we have these sets of facts to then claim that by refusing to agree to a temporary ceasefire, it will become the aggressor?

To be precise, only 14 people voted in that AD council of elders primary. Falae had 8 votes to Bola Ige’s 6 votes. Tinubu had his hands full with Lagos gubernatorial primaries of the party, which clearly had Ganiyu Dawodu and Funsho Williams working together. Both men owned the Lagos party structures at the time, and Funsho Williams was the favorite to be the governor of Lagos under Abacha’s transition program, from his old party of GDM. So his preparation was well ahead of Tinubu who had been in exile for the past 5 years then. He could not have been focused on a presidential primary involving 14 people, same 14 people who decided it was not right for afenifere to join PDP, because PDP seemed to have a predetermined presidential candidate in Obasanjo, who at that time had a very negative reputation in the southwest, despite his Abacha imprisonment. They also refused to join APP, because that party did not believe that the presidency should be zoned to the south, not to even talk of southwest, and its membership was heavily skewed towards the north.

First of all, Tinubu was not part of those who voted at the primary at D’Rovans. The primary wasn't a general vote by all party members. It was decided by a very specific, small group known as the Afenifere/AD Electoral College. This group consisted of 23 handpicked elders (often called the Wise Men). Second, at that time, Tinubu was considered a young politician. He was running for the Lagos State Governorship, not sitting on the supreme council of elders that decided the presidency. The voters were the Old Guard (Adesanya, Adebanjo, Olaniwun etc)
O.P Nuels@nuels88

Tinubu influenced Ige to accept the offer? Tinubu was reported to have voted against Bola Ige at the caucus primaries, citing Ige's support for Funsho Williams as the reason. Curiously, Wahab Dosunmu, who made Ige support Williams, also didn't vote for Ige.

Some of the things @MarioNawfal says amazes me. In one breath, he says that he is unbothered by the use of derogatory expletives by Donald Trump which is offensive to all Muslims (Sunni or Shiite) but he’s more worried by his war crime threat of blowing up civilian infrastructure. So in conclusion, he wishes that Iran makes concessions to America, so that Trump does not go ahead with the threat. What type of illogical take is this? Since America agrees that they can no longer effect regime change through air strikes, why are they still doing it? Iran was the party which got burned twice, whilst negotiating with the US. What guarantees will Iran have from having a deal with the US, that agreements will be respected? Iran has always respected all its agreements with the west, as far as the Nuclear issue is concerned… Unless Mario is also suggesting that Iran makes a promise to give up its missile development program, in which case, it is only a matter of time that Israel and the US does a land invasion under spurious conditions and strip Iran of its sovereignty. Let them blow up the Iranian infrastructure. The day they become man enough, they should do a proper land invasion and fight on the ground against the Iranian army. If theIS wants the strait of Hormuz open, they have to be the one to man it every single day, it’s that simple.
Mario Nawfal@MarioNawfal

Lots of people are losing their shit because Trump called the Iranian leadership "crazy bastards" and said "praise be to Allah" on Easter Sunday To me this doesn't bother me at all. Trump has always been unfiltered However, what worries me greatly is the threat: "Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day" This is civilian infrastructure; causing civilian harm to achieve military objectives That's not ok. I know the closure of the Strait of Hormuz is terrible for the global economy, putting Trump in a corner, but the solution is not causing harm to civilians, the same civilians Trump praised in January and promised to support during the protests These threats constitute a crime under international humanitarian law: Article 51: “The civilian population as such, as well as individual civilians, shall not be the object of attack.” Article 48: "Parties shall at all times distinguish between the civilian population and combatants… and accordingly shall direct their operations only against military objectives.” For the sake of the Iranian people, I urge Iran's leadership to accept some concessions to end the war soon, and I urge Trump not to deliver on his threats

@inecnigeria cannot be unmoved by what's going on in ADC because there's a big possibility that both factions will submit names for the elections. When that happens, they will be forced to go back to previous court judgements to ascertain which is the valid factions. The Akpabio case you are referring to, is in the situation that someone who is not in a political party is complaining about how the winner of an election emerged as a candidate of the party that presented them. Essentially, it means a PDP member or INEC cannot argue that the winner of a general election is not a valid winner because they didn't like the process APC used in selecting him as a candidate. That Akpabio judgement preserved the power of a political party to choose who represents them. It is consistent with the move made by PDP In 2007, when your old party, decided it will not present a candidate for the Imo state governorship election despite Ifeanyi Ararume winning validly held primaries. It was the party's prerogative to field or not to field candidates, as per our 1999 constitution. However, when parties have divisions which will affect determining which faction can authentically produce candidates, then INEC will be forced to follow whatever judgements the courts have determined with respect to that party. It is particularly insightful to know that the constitution created a loophole for politicians to decamp when there is division in their party, to avoid situations like this, which the PDP has used to their advantage many times in the past. But as Asiwaju said in his speech last year at the national assembly, it is joyful "to watch you guys in such disarray".

@StatisticalOdd @ogundamisi Those killings have been there before Tinubu. The anger of northerners about the killings cannot be blamed on where the president comes from. And yes, GEJ won in 2011 despite Boko Haram still being a problem.
