@LouiseHGeog We've built model sustainable buildings (joint with CDT) after learning about sustainable approaches to energy, water, transport, food, waste and buildings. Could be done as a whole group, with a variety of building types.

#GeographyTeacher Just wondering if anyone has any ideas that might help me plan three full days of exciting learning about sustainability. We’ve got to stay within school grounds or close to school and it has to be low cost. Hopefully, you’ll have some inspiring ideas!

@JTweedie @sarahduce @geologymull @scotgeologist Didn't mean to sound harsh, just fed up! There's some amazing work happening in classrooms across the country, which isn't well supported & encouraged by the SQA. But geoscience & geology is happening in because of dedicated teachers... It would be good to have more of that.

The geology of Gairloch explained by @emmaearth who kindly met up with me when I was in the area to show me a cool few spots. Emma teaches Geography at Gairloch high school and around 1-2 students out of 12 go on to study Geology at university which I think is absolutely awesome

@JTweedie @sarahduce @geologymull @scotgeologist The rhetoric of "no geology in state schools" is actually damaging. It is there, loads of teachers and pupils don't know it's available because of statements like this. My grandpa who is 85 started making this rock map of Scotland in 1992.He collected rocks during amateur geology trips over 30 years. He says it had to be geologically correct and also aesthetically pleasing.He asked if I could share online as He wants to go viral so please share

🌱 What an exciting week for our S3 climate change class, we have been investigating how our left over foods contribute a whopping 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions! So far it looks like banana peel is the top emitter with beetroot in a close second 🍌🍋🥛 @PortobelloHigh

The sound of a class of S1 Geographers 🌍 watching David Attenborough's @netflix Frozen Worlds @ourplanet and cheering on an escaping seal is my highlight of this week 🤩 Their out-loud reactions and engagement throughout are something special about watching this as a class!

Long trip down to the Scottish Parliament today for a meeting with @JennyGilruth, Cabinet Secretary for Education, who heard our ambitions for Geography 🌍 pupils & teachers in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 The @SAGTeach president's role comes with lots of meetings & it's refreshing to be heard!

@MissSmith_Geo This was a N5 fieldtrip to Aviemore in Feb 2020. Added such a memorable element (none of them had ever seen snow like it) but my goodness it was cold!!! ❄️ Well done for getting them out 🌍☺️
