@JeremyPound71 First appearance of rock at the Proms was in 1970! A late night Prom with Soft Machine. When Robert Wyatt tried to get back into the RAH after a fag break, the doorman didn't want to let him in. 'You must be kidding, son,’ he said, ‘they only have proper music in there.’

At some point, I am going to buy up a job lot of Nicholas Kenyon's superb history of the Proms and send them to the likes of David Frost so that they can get correctly informed about the appearance of rock, jazz etc at the Proms. He really should be getting his facts right.
