I held a productive discussion with @Winnie_Byanyima Executive Director of UNAIDS, on 🇪🇹’s ongoing efforts in HIV prevention, treatment, and care, as well as our broader work to strengthen emergency preparedness and response systems. We agreed to further deepen our collaboration in the years ahead to accelerate progress toward achieving both national and global HIV targets through closer partnership and sustained joint action.

Great meeting this morning with @ngopcb and @UNAIDS. Proud to have them on our Board. We are committed to working together towards a responsible transition of UNAIDS, preserving what works and delivers for people living with & affected by HIV. #endAIDS #HIVresponse

Without data, without targets, there is no global HIV response and no accountability. The role of the Joint Programme is to set the North Star that drives momentum, that measures progress, and keeps governments, funders and other stakeholders accountable. Every year, @UNAIDS publishes authoritative data on the status of the response – the Global AIDS Update – which guides the response, day in, day out, in country after country. 🔗 unaids.org/en/UNAIDS-glob…

I was honoured today to address the 57th meeting of the @UNAIDS Programme Coordinating Board in Brasilia. Grateful for Brazil's work and efforts as Chair, and hospitality in hosting this week's meeting, and deeply grateful for 🇧🇷's leadership in global HIV response. #endAIDS

ICWEA & @apha_sa joined @awpcab_org & ASWA, in partnership with @ViiVHC, convened a powerful satellite session on why CHOICE matters for an integrated & sustainable HIV response. CTA: centre communities to drive demand for biomedical tools for most at risk. #ChoiceManifesto

Today marks the start of #16Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. GBV including digital violence pushes girls out of school. Out-of-school girls are more vulnerable to HIV, exploitation & early pregnancy. Ending violence is essential to keep girls safe and in school. #EndGBV #EndAIDS

At the #G20 Summit, 🇿🇦 President @CyrilRamaphosa has opened and spoken for Africa and developing countries of the South. I’m here as one of 6 members of his G20 Extraordinary Committee on Inequality to present our report. Our chair Professor Joseph Stiglitz isn’t able to be here, and I have the honour to co-present our report together with Prof @Jayati1609. #EndInequalities g20.org/g20-media/land…
