She just reminded us it’s a numbers game, but here’s the hidden edge most applicants never use: 1, Align exactly what you’re building to the funder’s mission by studying their past winners and annual report first. 2, Scrutinize eligibility upfront: confirm they fund your industry, profit/non-profit status, location, and stage, no mismatches. 3, Spotlight your founders’ background: highlight real expertise, track record, and why your team is uniquely positioned to deliver. 4, Strengthen your online presence: polish LinkedIn, website, and testimonials so funders see instant credibility when they Google you. 5, Build a bulletproof pitch deck and business plan: back it with data, clear metrics, realistic budget, and measurable impact. 6, Show “why this idea, why now”: tie your project to current events or the funder’s top priorities for that extra edge. 7, After every rejection, politely ask the program officer for one specific improvement tip, grant bodies say this levels you up fast. Kolarele Odekanyin (Nigerian TEF 2016 winner): “My revenue was under N100,000 when I started, after the $5,000 TEF seed grant and training, it jumped to N10 million monthly.” Read this whenever you’re free; Nigerian We-Fi grant winners share exactly how they scaled with funding: we-fi.org/we-fi-supporte… Real TEF African alumni success stories + what actually worked: tonyelumelufoundation.org/success-stories Cherie Blair Foundation real impact stories from Nigerian women who scaled with support: cherieblairfoundation.org/impact/her-sto… Keep building and keep applying. Your next yes is closer than you think

My name is Oluwatosin Olaseinde, in 2023 I applied for over 100 opportunities and we only got 6 of them. This totaled grant of $125,000 and multiple fellowships. From an arithmetic perspective, only 5% of the things we shot at came back to us. This is your sign to not give up. Keep applying, keep showing up, and keep pushing forward until you hit your goals. It’s a numbers game.

Since I started following her, I've learned more about building, growing and showing up than I have from most places online. She’s just different, I barely see any motivational post. She actually puts in the work and shows up with it. The kind of account that doesn't let you stay comfortable.

Toyyib Adewale Adelodun
I was dozing off on the train last night when a lady tapped my knee. "Are you Mr. Toyyib Adelodun?" "Oh yes!" She then sat close by with her two children and we talked about careers and inspiration. The young girl wanted to do Architecture and Interior Design, the boy wanted to do Tech. We talked about internships and apprenticeships and I was showing them the robots I saw at @AnthropyUK, organisations like Black Apprenticeship Network and Blossiming Beyond Borders Nothing is as fulfilling has supporting the next generation🙏

Instead of spending $330/month on audio generation using ElevenLabs You can set up an open-source local TTS model on your laptop for free Most AI subscriptions right now are just a nice UI on top of something you can run on your own Here’s how to set it up locally:🧵

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, You want Canada 🇨🇦 but scholarship didn’t come through? Try Ireland 🇮🇪 first through student visa, then transfer to Canada later. Dreaming of France 🇫🇷 but embassy appointments are full? Apply through Romania 🇷🇴. Faster approval, still opens the Schengen door. Germany 🇩🇪 blocked account stressing you? Italy 🇮🇹 is cheaper and still gives you access to move within Schengen. Netherlands 🇳🇱 too expensive? Portugal 🇵🇹 might be your shortcut. Lower tuition, smoother process. Sweden 🇸🇪 visa dragging? Denmark 🇩🇰 can get you in faster. Same region, less stress. Australia 🇦🇺 feeling impossible right now? New Zealand 🇳🇿 is the quiet backdoor. Easier process, flexible movement later. Spain 🇪🇸 tourist visa hard to secure? Latvia 🇱🇻 is that underrated option people sleep on. Italy 🇮🇹 study process confusing? Lithuania 🇱🇹 is cheaper, faster, and still connects you to Europe. Norway 🇳🇴 requirements too heavy? Finland 🇫🇮 is simpler and still gives EU access. Japan 🇯🇵 work visa tough? South Korea 🇰🇷 trainee route can help you build experience first. Switzerland 🇨🇭 too expensive for study? Austria 🇦🇹 gives you similar access without draining your pocket. France 🇫🇷 tourist visa rejected before? Bulgaria 🇧🇬 can still get you into the region at a lower cost. Germany 🇩🇪 post-study options tight? Ireland 🇮🇪 gives you more flexibility and English-speaking opportunities. Here’s the truth most people figure out late… Relocation in 2026 is not always direct. It’s strategic. The people moving ahead are not always the ones with the most money… They’re the ones who understand alternative routes. Don’t get stuck on one door when there are multiple entry points. Enter smart. Move smart. Best wishes!

The truth is, this interview ended after the question about W2. I will also advise you not to get paid on a 1099 if you are not a US-based person authorized to work in the US. Forms W-8BEN (individuals) & W-8BEN-E (business) are for that. And a savvy recruiter can smell this from a distance. If you ever worked for a US company as a foreign contractor and you have a 1099… You have done UNAUTHORIZED work. US laws also don’t allow you to be a nomad in the US on a non-immigrant visa while working for ANY company (even if the company is outside the US) as long as you are doing that work on American soil. It is UNAUTHORIZED work.
