@melbz_girl @VicGovDH I agree. It gets confusing. The team at @covidbaseau have some detailed graphs that shows all the vaccinations! I took this screen shot a week ago, the darker bottom part are the government hubs & the light blue is drs. That’s the graph I look for, it gives me hope 🤣

My job is to support teachers with #digitech. Stoked to be working with a teacher from a remote school in WA. Professional email🙅🏼‍♀️ Scope and sequence for 2021 ✅ Next step, unpack each term. Algorithms, robotics, cyber safety, designing, data it’s all there for her P-4 classes 👊

@VMN_alex @MathsLoverMelbs I agree. Reading the fraction ‘3 out of 8’ will also contribute to the misconception of comparing fractions. If they are comparing it to a half - our Ss may think 2 is smaller than 8 so 8 is the bigger fraction.

@EmpowerDigiTech @MathsLoverMelbs Ok, so the objection is on reading 3/8 as 'three out of eight' instead of three-eighths or three one-eighths. It's important that students understand different representations of fractions which includes 'out of', but I agree that the reading of them should focus on the unit.

Look. I know fractions aren't supposed to be framed in terms of 'out of' but I'm doing me! #MathsTalk

@VMN_alex @MathsLoverMelbs I was thinking fractions as a part of an object while your example is a fraction of a quantity. If that was a class activity I’d talk about the quantity (3 out of 8 counters) versus representation of a fraction (three eighths) and get Ss to use ‘fraction language’ as priority.

A6: @SportandiAndres led one about esports and the benefits of using them in our classes. It opened my eyes to how valuable those programs can be if we direct Ss in a certain way and have focus before implementing them #PrimarySTEMchat

Q5: that I talk too much! So I stopped talking that’ll and let the students do! Provide Ss with time to find the answer themselves. (One year I gave my students a week to teach each other. Pass on a skill, they loved it!) #PrimarySTEMchat

A4 - Each time a lesson doesn't go to plan, I reflect and learn from it. I also discuss failure with my Ss to encourage them to always strive for their best and if it doesn't happen the first time, learn from and improve #PrimarySTEMchat

A3: a year 5 S hated maths. She cried in a test because she couldn’t do it. Fast forward 4 years and I find out she is loving secondary school Maths and Science. Double proud because of her success and she was a girl loving STEM. #PrimarySTEMchat

A4: my students were building simple machines and trying to get things to work was a nightmare - for me and them. We worked together and the day I had a S have a cardboard wheel barrow that WORKED was the best day ever. Failure was part of the learning #PrimarySTEMchat
