Thank you to @ChmnMendelson for elevating student voice in the District with a dedicated hearing AFTER school hours and the councilmembers showing up to listen to the needs of our young people!

Lots of energy in front of the Wilson Building right now with educators, #childcare providers, and parents on this cold day to say 🗣️: no pay cuts for educators & no subsidy wait lists for families‼️

This is outrageous! The CFO is not an elected legislator. If the law still stands than so does the revenue it generates. He’s changing council passed policy based on his opinion about it, not reality.
Alex Koma@AlexKomaDC

No delays to tax filing...BUT he still won't count the roughly $600 million in revenue for the city's budget. Essentially he's saying the mere risk of litigation is enough reason to keep this money out of the revenue estimate. Can't imagine the council/mayor will be pleased.

This. Any lawmaker telling advocates it's a "tight budget season" while advancing a "recoupling" effort that would simultaneously hurt our budget and set an incredibly dangerous precedent of bowing at the feet of illegal federal interference should think twice about this approach. @CMFrumin @chenderson @CMBrookePinto @AnitaBondsDC
Martin Austermuhle@maustermuhle

There's rumors that some D.C. lawmakers may want to try and recouple, effectively ending this dispute altogether. "That would be very unpopular with residents who are tired of seeing government officials acquiesce to federal bullying," says @ChmnMendelson.

I long for a DC government that cuts wasteful and ineffective programs. Instead, they’re just going to slash health care for poor families again.
Martin Austermuhle@maustermuhle

Wayne Turnage, deputy mayor for health and human services, focuses on health programs like Medicaid and the Healthcare Alliance (for immigrants). He says that if D.C. walks back cuts started this year, it would cost $300 million a year.
