On this day in 1892, crusading journalist Ida B. Wells launched her anti-lynching campaign after a mob killed three of her friends. ow.ly/p87u50Z2tPq

DC Residents, As a candidate for DC Council at Large, my commitment is to make DC a safer, more affordable place where ALL can thrive. I am committed to building a real public safety strategy and investments to make our communities safer. I will work to shift the philosophy of the DC Council to make DC a better place for small businesses to open, thrive and create jobs. I am committed to protecting and expanding resources for our youth, both education and recreation to ensure our future generations are better prepared for the real world. Additionally, I will build power within Congress to protect Home Rule and strengthen the coalition fighting for DC Statehood. I know I’m the best candidate to accomplish that, but in an environment with 8 other candidates and rank choice voting, I encourage my supporters to consider ranking Candace Tiana Nelson and Lisa Raymond high on your list for DC Council At-Large. At a time when our city faces significant challenges around affordability, public safety, economic opportunity, and trust in government, I believe Candace and Lisa bring the integrity, experience, compassion, and vision necessary to move our communities forward. Candace Tiana Nelson has demonstrated a deep commitment to government service, equity, and community-centered leadership. Her ability to connect policy and government with the real needs of residents makes her a powerful voice for families, working people, and neighborhoods across the District. Lisa Raymond has long been recognized as a thoughtful and results-oriented leader who understands how to bring people together to solve problems, especially in education. Her dedication to public service and improving quality of life for residents reflects the kind of steady leadership our city needs right now. Together, Candace, Lisa and I represent a new generation of leadership grounded in experience, collaboration, accountability, and action. We understand that effective leadership is not about talking points, it is about delivering meaningful results for the people they serve. During this critical time for the District, I encourage residents to support my run for DC Council and consider highly ranking Candace Tiana Nelson and Lisa Raymond. Less talk, more action. Sincerely, Greg Jackson Jr. Candidate, DC Council At-Large

INTERESTING: In the education portion of @fox5dc/@Georgetown mayoral debate, candidates @goodweather4dc, @Janeese4DC and @kenyanmcduffie said they wouldn't retain @LewisDFerebee as @dcpublicschools chancellor if elected.

I am so honored and privileged to have the former Attorney General @EricHolder behind me in the DC Delegate's race. He says that: “This moment demands more than another politician. Replacing the legendary Eleanor Holmes Norton requires someone with toughness, resilience and the ability to fight and win on the national stage. Kinney Zalesne is that person. She has Eleanor‘s backbone and persistence and the experience of getting results that DC urgently needs as Trump‘s attacks leave the city more vulnerable than at any point in my lifetime.” Thank you so much for your endorsement, Eric!

NEW: The council extended changes to the Open Meetings Act that allow for closed door meetings w/o notice. ALSO: After the passage of perm curfew legislation, talk about a youth governing council; and one last round of relief for displaced condo owners. washingtoninformer.com/dc-council-hou…

Yesterday, @GCAARNow began distributing materials to DC voters claiming that our Council along with @IAFF36 and DC Nurses endorsed @kenyanmcduffie. This claim is patently false. Not only did we NOT endorse McDuffie, not a single union has endorsed him. Our statement:

Thank you VERY much to @amanduhgomez, communications director for Janeese Lewis George’s campaign, who pointed out an egregious error we made today. See more: gcaar.azurewebsites.net/docs/default-s…
