Remember those observational studies and secondary analyses showing improved outcomes in cardiac arrest with IV vs IO access?
Yeah, about that…

What Tanner said… this is at the top of my “to read”’stack.
Tanner Smida@TannerSmida
Great paper in @JACEPOpen discussing the development of a bundle of care to prevent rearrest following OHCA resuscitation. Looking forward to seeing results of implementation of the 'Stabilize on Scene' (SOS) bundle! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/em…

@joshkimbre @JScheid14 @TannerSmida @WVUEmergencyMed @JBardesMD @NAEMSPJournal @PECpodcast @TheResusRoom @HandtevyMD Early pressors following ROSC/rearrest are easier if they’re already hanging. One pragmatic advantage of giving intra-arrest epi via IV infusion… it’s already running when you have post-ROSC hypotension. Just need to titrate.
English

@JScheid14 @TannerSmida @WVUEmergencyMed @JBardesMD @NAEMSPJournal @PECpodcast @TheResusRoom @EmsLighthouse @HandtevyMD Agreed. What can we do to reduce the risk of rearrest?
- Early Norepinephrine prep and use
- Frequent reassessment (BP q 2 min)
- Standby period (tho not clearly borne out in the science, I think the early movement is detrimental so 10 min)
- Anything else?
English

Using data from the US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea, our point estimate of the independent association between #rearrest and mortality suggests that preventing 5 rearrests may prevent 1 death prior to hospital d/c. #SystematicReview #MetaAnalysis

@TannerSmida @HandtevyMD Looking forward to reading another Tanner paper. Keep up the a trong work!

Pts. who received prehospital transcutaneous pacing had high mortality (63%). Progression to cardiac arrest is common (20%) and assoc. w/⬆️weight, a non-bradycardic initial heart rate and pre-TCP hypoxia among pts. who did not receive CPR prior to TCP.
