Plaid Cymru nationalists spent this afternoon in the Senedd trying to make political capital out of the situation in Port Talbot — crocodile tears from a party whose own policies will destroy British industry. Plaid are using the steel crisis to push their independence agenda. But they fail to mention the real reason blast furnaces shut in Port Talbot: ideologically motivated green policies and globalisation, two concepts their party supports enthusiastically. Let’s be clear: Tata is opening blast furnaces in India while shutting them in Port Talbot. The extreme policies Plaid supports won’t “save the planet” — they’ll just offshore emissions and offshore jobs. Steel will still be made, just in countries with lower environmental standards than Wales. Often, it will be worse for the planet. Plaid Cymru nationalists said Britain doesn’t need fossil fuels. They attacked the then Prime Minister Rishi Sunak for taking a pragmatic approach to Net Zero. That’s their real position. They can’t now pretend to stand with steelworkers. You can’t have it both ways. Plaid Cymru nationalists are now trying to make political capital out of a crisis their own policies will make worse. Their hypocrisy is staggering. Wales deserves better.

STATEMENT All my life I have wanted Wales to be independent. It was simple really; I realised early on I belong to a nation that's had a raw deal for a long, long time. It was never about ideology, let alone scenery! It was pure nationalism - my people, our country, deserve better. In recent years, as the Woke agenda swept Wales, the independence movement - and even hitherto rational Welsh institutions - have become unrecognisable. This wave attracted people who knew nothing about us or our country, but have flocked here because they can recognise a platform and easy money when they're offered them. The Welsh people, those who belong here, my nation, and our national identity, don't figure in their thoughts. There are even people in the modern independence movement who think talking about nationhood and national identity is evil! So why do they want independence? Because the independence movement has been corrupted and captured by a certain agenda, that wants independence to impose the agenda unfettered. Which is why I believe that independence in the present political and social climate would do more damage than even 26 years of devolution has inflicted. For no one in the current independence movement has a clue about economics, or trade. An independent Wales would soon be bankrupt. But before that happens we'll bask for a few short years in the warm glow of saving the planet in a 'Nation of Sanctuary', where kids wear hijabs, and law and order is maintained by Nigerian machete gangs. Anything that goes wrong will of course be blamed on long-dead white men, systemic racism, and the capitalist system. Sorry, this is bollocks; and it's not the independence I want. The recent Supreme Court ruling that the term 'woman' is restricted to biological human females is encouraging. But why did it take so long to state the bleeding obvious? This and other moves in the Western world lead me to believe the worst of Woke is over. But I fear Wales will be among the last countries to return to sanity. For the reasons stated above I am withdrawing my support for independence until sanity returns.

The final days of British Steel. Chinese owners are preparing for its closure. Britain invented the steel industry. A key part of a powerhouse industrial base. But sadly, Britain’s industries have been hollowed out, sold off & communities left to rot.
