Unless i'm mistaken, no agencies responsible for cybersecurity in the US government will be receiving early access to Mythos under Project Glasswing, because Anthropic is still labeled a supply chain risk! Seems bad!

Introducing Project Glasswing: an urgent initiative to help secure the world’s most critical software. It’s powered by our newest frontier model, Claude Mythos Preview, which can find software vulnerabilities better than all but the most skilled humans. anthropic.com/glasswing

I’ve been to AMC Georgetown twice. Once in 2022 to watch Everything Everywhere All At Once, and again this weekend to watch the Everything Everywhere All At Once director’s new movie about AI. This time, I got to see myself on the screen. When I was interviewed for @theaidocfilm in fall 2024, I was cautiously optimistic. It is really hard to make an evergreen movie about the fastest changing technology ever, and to feature a bunch of people who disagree with each other (intensely) and yet make them all proud. But the filmmakers killed it. The AI Doc is informative and moving and also just a genuinely fun watch. My message - that there’s a bridge humanity must cross to reach an amazing future, and we can act urgently to safely get to the other side - was represented well. I didn’t feel pigeonholed or caricatured at all. There is no better feeling than seeing my friends and family all fired up from a movie that masterfully distills what I’ve been talking their heads off about for years. The AI Doc is truly a must watch. Go run to a theater near you - I’m excited to hear what you think :)

We disrupted a highly sophisticated AI-led espionage campaign. The attack targeted large tech companies, financial institutions, chemical manufacturing companies, and government agencies. We assess with high confidence that the threat actor was a Chinese state-sponsored group.

When everything online feels synthetic, the most radical thing might be being real. Grateful to @TIME for including my thoughts on how AI’s flood of fake content could ironically bring us closer to one another. time.com/7326718/sora-2…

Encode, the non-profit I founded, was recently subpoenaed by OpenAI. Here’s where I stand. First, I’m proud of @_NathanCalvin. He represented us with clarity and strength. And I’m grateful for all the support we’ve gotten, publicly and privately. People who vehemently opposed our other work went to bat for us here. Honestly, it was reasonable for OpenAI to have concerns about collusion. Elon - who doesn’t fund or direct Encode - is genuinely against them. And Encode - which has 3 full-time employees - went on to pass SB 53, the nation’s leading AI safety law. Influence comes with scrutiny … and it should! OpenAI could have stopped at asking us about Elon. This was his suit about their restructuring. But they also wanted all our messages about the unrelated SB 53, which they were lobbying against. Some people claim this is standard practice. But a subpoena this broad - targeting a non-profit that filed a public amicus brief and wasn’t a party - is anything but standard. It also was not standard to serve Nathan personally (on top of serving Encode), or to subpoena other critics that weren’t involved in the case. For us, this was taxing. Worrying about OpenAI accessing our texts made basic coordination hard when the stakes for our bill were highest. We fortunately had pro bono counsel, but otherwise, the legal fees could’ve been crushing. Consider how startups get torched by compliance that’s trivial for powerful companies. So maybe this is surprising: I still believe OpenAI wants to be a force for good. I often appreciate their people and work (I literally had GDPVal open when Nathan posted). I know their success is critical to American dominance in AI. And I think OpenAI can get criticized disproportionately, even when competitors move faster with fewer safeguards. It is only because I expected better that I am disappointed. Encode wants to be held to high standards. If you’re building AGI that will transform society, shouldn’t you welcome being held to high standards, too? Encode and OpenAI share the same interest: to ensure AGI benefits humanity. That requires independent voices speaking without fear, and companies hearing good-faith criticism as an opportunity. We remain committed to working with anyone pursuing this vision. That includes OpenAI.

One Tuesday night, as my wife and I sat down for dinner, a sheriff’s deputy knocked on the door to serve me a subpoena from OpenAI. I held back on talking about it because I didn't want to distract from SB 53, but Newsom just signed the bill so... here's what happened: 🧵
