@umutcagrisariii Have you heard any bad news about Somalia from Ethiopia? Why do you want to make this kind of propaganda on neighboring countries? I believe Turkey is interested in this divisive politics.

Another reason not to believe those reporting news from the UAE, US, UK, Australia, Qatar, Kenya, Ethiopia and France, and those speaking on behalf of Somalia: the real Somali people are embracing the Somali Army in South West. 🇸🇴

This airport in Bishoftu 🇪🇹 is the most climate-responsive terminal in the world. As Africa's largest airport, construction has started, to serve 60 million passengers a year, with plans to reach 110 million. 4x the size of the current airport. But the real story is not the size. It is how it works with the climate. Located in a mild highland climate, the terminal is designed to: • use natural ventilation • provide solar shading • collect rainwater and reuse • support energy on site with solar panels • include semi-open and outdoor spaces Warm days. Mild weather. The building works with it, not against it. Courtyards and gardens are not just for looks. They: • help air move through the building • reduce heat build-up • create a better passenger experience The landscape uses native plants and keeps existing trees where possible. Inside, the design is inspired by Ethiopia’s land. A central path connects the spaces, making it easier to move through the airport. Materials and systems are also local: • concrete, steel, and aggregates are sourced or recycled nearby This is not just a large airport. It is a building designed for its environment. Organic form. Climate thinking. Both can work together. Bishoftu International Airport 📍Ethiopia Architects: Zaha Hadid Architects

@Joe__Bassey I'm perplexed that the native South Africans' work habits are so bad, and when someone comes and tries to do it, and they see the success of that other African Brother without shame, they want to take all of his wealth by force, which is not expected of a human being.

It’s sad how some South Africans are targeting businesses of Africans from other countries in SA. Some even think people who run legitimate businesses are taking their jobs. Africans going to South Africa 🇿🇦 for business should be careful. Recently President Cyril Ramaphosa pointed out that inflation and hardship will soon hit the highest in the country and that they should cope with him as he’s doing everything possible. Yet some people are attacking other Africans doing legitimate business in the name of protecting their country, while White people who control most of the country’s economy and land live comfortably and are not being called out. The sad reality is that most of those people, especially from Zimbabwe, are of the same ethnicity as them but are divided by colonial borders.

@Endalk1329 I guess you need a little schooling on this… Colonialism isn’t just flags and guns it’s systems that let a few profit while the many beg. Ethiopia’s luxury hotels vs. street reality? That’s exactly it.

“Never colonized” they said but couldn’t hide the begging hands, the silent crisis, and the staged pride. They gave DDG luxury hotels, filtered streets, and scripted history… but one step outside the bubble exposed the truth they can’t edit. A country busy selling pride to visitors, while its people struggle in shadows, they try so hard to hide. #DDG #EthiopiaReality #BeyondTheBubble #HiddenTruth #ScriptedNarrative #AddisAbaba #RealityCheck #AfricaUnfiltered

I asked Somali federal government officials how a fuel shortage might affect the country. They replied that nothing would happen to us because our fuel comes from Africa, not the Middle East. Then I asked private companies that supply fuel to Somalia the same question, and they said that 99.9% of Somalia’s fuel comes from the Middle East and passes through the Strait of Hormuz. The government appears to be waging an unnecessary political war against its member states. How are they going to sustain this war without fuel? It seems that the Somali federal government doesn’t even understand the fuel crisis the world is facing. Someone needs to wake them up to reality.

🎖️ 🇪🇹 🎖️ Standing alongside the brave Ethiopian men and women serving under the blue helmets was, once again, a moment of immense pride and deep emotion for me. As Guest of Honor at the medal-pinning ceremony held at EthBatt-3 camp on the outskirts of Juba, I had the privilege of recognizing the dedication and sacrifice of our peacekeepers. Representing the gallant Ethiopian National Defense Force within the framework of United Nations Peacekeeping, these courageous men and women embody Ethiopia’s long-standing commitment to international peace and collective security—an engagement our country has upheld since the very inception of the global peacekeeping ideal. Pinning medals on their uniforms was not merely a ceremonial gesture; it was a deeply humbling experience. It symbolized the world’s recognition of their relentless service, discipline, and the humanity-centered approach that has earned Ethiopia the respect of the international community and the trust of the people they serve. Hearing testimonies of their professionalism, compassion, and unwavering courage in the field filled me with profound admiration. Their actions speak louder than any words, reflecting the true spirit and honor of Ethiopia and its historic role as a pillar of peace and stability across the continent. To our peacekeepers: your sacrifices, your sleepless nights, and your steadfast commitment to protecting civilians and upholding peace do not go unnoticed. As an Ethiopian and as an Ambassador, I carry immense pride in your service. My gratitude and respect are beyond what words can fully express—thank you for standing as guardians of peace and as worthy ambassadors of our nation in the mission of United Nations Mission in South Sudan. 🇪🇹🕊️ #Ethiopia #SouthSudan #PeaceKeeping #Peaceandsecurity

If Somaliland signs an MoU with Abiy granting a naval base, it’s not strategy, it’s surrender. Allowing a stronger neighbor to station troops on our soil and control our vital coastline isn’t a risk; it’s a direct threat to our survival.

•And Africa's industrialist-in-chief @AlikoDangote having reversed a decade of decline in the continent's oil refining capacity with a single Nigerian refinery is now working on a $2.5B fertilizer project in #Ethiopia
Emeka Ajene ✍🏽@eajene

The most important shift in African investment isn't happening in New York, London, or Beijing. It's happening on the continent itself. For decades, African capital fled Africa. Wealthy individuals parked money in real estate in London or Dubai. Pension funds bought foreign government bonds. Sovereign wealth funds sat idle. That's changing — and @TheEconomist called it "probably the most crucial" reason to be optimistic about Africa's economic future in a pair of articles published last week. Here's what's happening on the ground: • In 2024, Africa's 500 largest firms recorded their highest-ever revenues in dollar terms. As these firms grow, they're reinvesting. • Nearly 50% of venture capital raised in Africa last year came from African investors — the highest share ever recorded. • The $1 trillion-plus sitting on the balance-sheets of African pension funds, insurance funds, and sovereign wealth funds is increasingly being redirected from government bills and bonds toward private equity and infrastructure. Just last year, for example, Ghana mandated 5% of its state pension fund go to private equity and venture capital. • The @Africa_Finance Corporation, the multilateral DFI built to bridge Africa’s infrastructure gap, increased its investments to $4.5B last year — roughly $2B more than its total in the previous two years. • And Africa's industrialist-in-chief @AlikoDangote — having reversed a decade of decline in the continent's oil refining capacity with a single Nigerian refinery — is now eyeing a $2.5B fertilizer project in Ethiopia, $1B in cement, power generation, and infrastructure deals in Zimbabwe, mining projects across Central Africa, and more. And when African capital leads, foreign capital follows. As Dangote said at an economic summit in Imo State, Nigeria, last year: “If we don’t invest at home, there is nobody on Earth who will come and invest here. What attracts foreign investors is the domestic investments, and that’s what we are doing." It reminds me of what Celtel founder & Sudan-born billionaire Mo Ibrahim said in a Bloomberg interview last year: "Africans must not fear Africa. We need to start investing in ourselves... African investors must invest more in our own continent." (linkedin.com/posts/afridige…) Slowly but surely, that's happening: Africans — across the continent and the diaspora — are beginning to bet on Africa at scale. -- Afridigest Intelligence — real intelligence to win in Africa's growth markets: afridigest.com/intelligence
