@ebel40187 @EquippedGiraffe @naMnaSYt Uh yeah. She just learned it. She doesn’t have the forms down yet. When she uses airbending for the first time it’s an instinctual explosive burst of wind. And yeah. Things happen because of tbe plot. That’s how stories work.

this is where I see the mary sue complaint now whole season she was getting washed but suddenly she can airbend after having her bending taken away and can negate Amon's bloodbending with no waterbending but Aang couldnt negate Yakone, who was significantly weaker than Amon

now rewatching

@EquippedGiraffe @naMnaSYt Well in the original show we had Aang who could airbend with no movement just to stand up, Bumi who could bend with just his face, a singular character who could shoot explosions with his mind, etc. I also like the martial arts of ATLA, but it wasn’t 100% faithful to it either

@naMnaSYt All the bending moves are supposed to be closely related to the spirit of the element so you'd think air comes from some kind of flowy kung fu circles but in all the clips from this show they just do punches and air magic happens.

@creepercharge56 I asked the same question and it’s because they have to leave before the cops get there. So it’s a race to see how far you get before that clock hits. It really is like the time limit in maze runner

Those "scientology speedrun" videos are so funny to me because why do you stop as soon as an employee gets too close? I would keep running until they physically drag me out

@criticbarbarian @BUNvincible I don’t think she was wrong for it at all. They’re living in a world in constant threat of annihilation, Mark is constantly in life-threatening situations, and Eve can’t defend herself while pregnant. It’s reasonable to feel like it’s not the right time to have a child

@criticbarbarian @BUNvincible Well it’s easy to agree to the first bit cause it’s obvious lmao. And the last bit is true in many cases. And back to the show, I feel like Eve’s abortion was handled about as well as it could’ve been. She didn’t wait forever to get it and it wasn’t a decision she made lightly

@Endless_Echo_ @BUNvincible I can agree to a difference of viewpoint. But I'm not going to agree with that last sentence.

@criticbarbarian @BUNvincible Then it’s a good thing a baby wasn’t killed. But that’s a difference in viewpoints. However a baby born through obligation rarely is given the life it deserves

@Endless_Echo_ @BUNvincible I don't think there's any nuance in this scenario. A baby made through love shouldn't be killed for frivolous reasons.

@criticbarbarian @BUNvincible If I had to say, I’d probably guess it’s because the murderer took that choice away from the mother and thus they move forward under the assumption the baby wouldve been carried to term

@Endless_Echo_ @BUNvincible Then why do pro-choice states like California count it as double homicide in murder cases, regardless of the babies' state of development?

@criticbarbarian @BUNvincible If I had to choose between the two, I’d say life begins at birth. But I won’t lie to you, once the thing starts kicking and moving that seems more personified to me. I would personally define it as a person at ~6 months which is when sentience and awareness are thought to begin

@Endless_Echo_ @BUNvincible Nice reinterpretation of Bill Burr's joke, except it was about seeing things the other way around. Seriously though, I have a genuine question since you seem hung up on this point. At what point, between conception and birth, does it become a person?

@criticbarbarian @BUNvincible When told to lie to Anissa and agree to conquer the Earth, he stood his ground and refused to even entertain the concept of turning on his own people. He stood up to his own father to protect his home. Can’t lie and say he doesn’t have morals either.

@Endless_Echo_ @BUNvincible He's brave for going, no doubt. But Oliver also fought, and fuel tech jacket. Fighting doesn't make one a man. Having principals and morals does. He doesn't have any.

@Radiant_Matt @thelukadoncic I’m not heartbroken about the break up, buts he’s a chill guy and has been supportive throughout, so it is a little jarring to see what appeared to be a healthy relationship end so abruptly

Personally, I really loved the Mark and Eve abortion scene. I think the show did a much better job than the comic to allow Eve time to breathe and express her feelings and overall sorrow. Mark supporting her. This truly feels like their coming of age moment as a couple.
