What a difference 24 hours can make.
Over the weekend, much of Alabama felt like spring. Today, crews worked through freezing temperatures, sleet, rain and everything in between while continuing restoration after last night’s storms.

It’s been a long day across the state, and progress continues as teams worked in some tough conditions and in areas that take extra time to reach safely.
We know outages are frustrating, especially when the weather keeps changing, and we appreciate your patience as crews work to get everyone back on.

Our goal remains to restore service to everyone who can safely take power tonight, and crews will continue working until that work is done.

It’s easy to see that states like Alabama who support strong energy policies are going to be more competitive and better able to serve their customers. We will continue to support policies that that provide the affordable and reliable power our state needs to succeed. #alpolitics

When winter weather moves in, even light ice can quietly change conditions — adding weight to trees and power lines and increasing safety risks, especially across Alabama’s wooded areas.

Our goal is simply to help you stay informed and prepared. Taking a few steps now can help protect what matters most if weather conditions shift.

As colder air moves into Alabama this weekend, some areas could see freezing rain, snow or ice. We understand how disruptive winter weather can be when it arrives suddenly. Taking time to prepare now is important, as ice and snow can weigh down tree branches and power lines, sometimes causing them to fall. Prep early 📱 Charge phones, tablets & battery packs 🎒 Stock blankets, warm clothing, meds, water & 2–3 days of shelf-stable food 🔥 Use indoor-safe heating only — never grills, generators or fuel-burning heaters indoors ❗ Never run generators indoors or connect them to home wiring 🚗 If driving is necessary, keep an emergency kit in your car 🌳 Secure loose outdoor items; park away from trees & power lines When winter weather hits ❗ Stay far away from downed power lines 🚗 Avoid travel unless absolutely necessary ⚠️ Never use ovens, gas stoves or grills to heat your home; check CO detectors
