There's a clear correlation between the two when Bakugo's next exact line is used to clarify "When everyone's special to you then no one is, basically" to explain himself further.
Which is then brought up again when Deku leaves to catch up with Ochaco and it's brought up one more time by Deku himself to Ochaco about him wanting "More" with her. That advice from Bakugo is what led to Deku's decision.
